Fears mount as Israel deploys more troops to Lebanon border

Tensions in the Middle East are escalating as fears of a wider war between Israel and Lebanon grow. Israel’s defence minister, Yoav Gallant, has declared that his country is entering a new phase in the conflict and has sent more troops to the border. According to Gallant, the “centre of gravity is shifting to the north”, suggesting an increased focus on Hezbollah – the Iran-backed group based in Lebanon.

The situation took a deadly turn with a new wave of explosions that killed 14 people and injured at least 450 in Lebanon. The country’s health ministry reported that the explosions were caused by walkie-talkies and pagers exploding. There are claims that Mossad, the Israeli spy agency, was targeting Hezbollah fighters and had placed explosives in the electronic devices. Israel has remained silent on these claims, while the United States has denied prior knowledge of the attacks.

The conflict has already resulted in the displacement of around 60,000 people in northern Israel due to rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah. Thousands of people in Lebanon have also been killed and injured in Israeli attacks. The escalating violence has raised concerns of a wider war breaking out in the region.

The situation is rapidly evolving, and the international community is closely monitoring the developments between Israel and Lebanon. Stay tuned for more updates on this volatile situation.
