If Tesla really gets to 50,000 Semis per year, charging infrastructure has to grow at almost the same pace. Could charging become a bigger bottleneck than production?
The operating cost numbers are what caught my attention. But how much do those savings change when electricity prices are higher or the truck is carrying a heavy load?
I’m still skeptical about the 500-mile range in real-world trucking. Payload, weather, speed, and terrain can make a huge difference. Has Tesla tested this under tougher conditions?
A $250K starting price still sounds expensive compared with a diesel truck. At what mileage does the Tesla Semi actually break even when you include charging, maintenance, and financing?
The WattEV order is interesting because they already have experience running electric trucks. I’d be curious to know what specifically made them choose the Tesla Semi.

50,000 trucks a year would be a completely different scale for Tesla. The real question is whether they can reach that number without sacrificing quality or reliability.
The 1.2 MW Megacharger sounds impressive, but I’m wondering how much grid infrastructure is required for a station like this. That part doesn’t get discussed enough.

With larger rims lower profile harder tires smaller footprint equals less stopping distance just like the electric cars and hybrids sacrificing safety in the name of mileage
Did they have to lower the breaking standards like the lower the breaking standards just to have the electric cars in hybrids legally on the road we used to be down to under 100 ft at 55 mph now we're well over closer to 130,,,150 ft at 55 mph sacrificing safety for a bit of mileage and just like the heavier electric and hybrid are the big trucks also heavier and going to beat up the roads even more without paying for it
1,000 Tesla semis charging at the same time would require the output of a full size nuclear power plant, and they're going to build 50,000 every year while we've built 4 nuclear plants in the past 30 years?
How to charge or swap batteries? Is infrastructure ready?
How long has it taken since it was announced to get here? It is years late and the Chinese and Europeans have not sat still and have fleets out there earning money. We are starting to see Truck Charging sites here in the UK and they are being used. Tesla had an advantage back in 2017 but not in 2026. Elon took his eye off Tesla years ago when it became clear that the CyberTruck was an abject failure.
I would love to see 50K a year but that is IMHO fantasy world.
What about the used up batteries? What happens to the volatile waste? Another battery recycling center burnt to the ground? That’s a lot more pollution than any diesel ever made.

Actually, the electricity is more expensive than diesel
If you take a pick up truck and go across the country, one diesel one electrical diesel. It’s gonna be time with time and efficiency electrical gonna waste 10 times more time and double the price menu.
Electricity some more cheaper if you recharge at your station at your Hose, but if you charge at gas station, it’s more expensive than diesel. Otherwise the diesel will become 10 $15 per gallon.
And the worst part example I am driving average 700 miles per day plus minus it can be 650 or 750 with the electrical truck uphill no problem you can make it 750 miles per day. They need the truck at least 900 miles range because you’re sitting at the company pick up and delivery AC still working or heating heater working or warming up the meals but 500 miles piece of chunk

As long as it has a good range, good payload, and lots of chargers designed for big trucks. Diesel here in CA is around $7 now
