In a recent episode of ‘Bill Bailey’s Jungle Hero’, comedian and actor Bill Bailey had the rare opportunity to witness the extraordinary Birds of Paradise in their natural habitat. These majestic creatures were famously described by 19th Century English naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace as his greatest discovery yet.
As Bailey quickly learned, spotting these elusive birds requires waking up early and venturing deep into the jungle. The vibrant colors, intricate dances, and melodious calls of the Birds of Paradise truly make them a sight to behold.
The episode follows Bailey as he retraces the steps of Alfred Wallace, a pioneering explorer who made significant contributions to the field of natural science. Wallace’s encounters with man-eating tigers, head-hunting tribesmen, and sinking ships are just a few of the thrilling adventures that Bailey explores in his quest to understand the legacy of this unsung hero.
Through his journey, Bailey not only gains a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the natural world but also sheds light on the importance of preserving and protecting these species for future generations.
Overall, ‘Bill Bailey’s Jungle Hero’ offers a fascinating look at the life and work of Alfred Wallace, while also showcasing the beauty and splendor of the Birds of Paradise. This rare sighting serves as a reminder of the incredible diversity and magic that exists in the world around us.

God loves you and cares for you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this large universe and controls it completely. The greatest loss a person loses in this life is that he lives without knowing God who created him and knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. Great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and after that you have the choice to believe in it or not to believe in it. I advise you to do this now, before you no longer have time to do so. Life is very short. It is just a test, just a passage to eternal life. Great advice to those who… Understands
Nature is such a fun spot for human life❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It will be really GREAT! If the entire videos in this channel are only focused on: The birds, fishes, animals, and commentary on it by humans in the background.
❤❤❤❤❤
wow
Anybody in bbc, please cut his hair, there is no point at all😊
Is he trying to find the single right tree in a forest by process of elimination?

The forest gives me a feeling of closeness to nature, it's great to see animals living freely🥰🥰❤❤❤

สวัสดีครับ
The most overused word in British English: extraooooooooordin'ry.
Since Wallace's time, it's been 166 years, and these birds have only been spotted a handful of times😧😧😧. These birds are rarer than diamonds. I truly hope their population grows and that they are protected by animal lovers. Great job, BBC! I'm always looking forward to your videos!❤❤❤❤
"The standardwing bird-of-paradise (Semioptera wallacii), also known as Wallace's standardwing or as the standardwing, is a species of bird-of-paradise. It is the only member in monotypic genus Semioptera." Wiki
This is awesome. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Wonderful
Paradise birds often are very naughty & noisy! 🐦
LoL! This is in Halmahera , standard wings are one of the easiest birds to see! BBC why do you always have to add nonexistent drama to your documentaries???
Fun fact, the BBC built a full on bird hide up in the canopy to get the shots of the birds displaying! The local bird guides used it for wildlife photographers UNTIL a birding group used flash photography and scared the birds off to another display tree.
Luckily me and my birding group managed to used it for some cracking pics before the idiot birder group ruined it for everyone!

À incrível comunicação melodiosa dos pássaros …junta-se a beleza e a inteligência! Perfeito…
This is amazing to see ❤❤❤❤
I'm here to see birds…not someone talking about seeing birds…
Excellent channel,Nice video, I really like. All the best to you.have a nice day.
Beautiful birds. Fortunately the statement that they've been seen just a handful of times since Wallace's time just isn't true. They're regularly seen at known display sites. There are over 500 sightings on eBird alone, over 100 of which have photos with a couple dozen audio recordings as well.
Very beautiful 👌👌
Thanks 🙏
Wonderful 👁️🤳👌🌐
