Analysis of Iranian Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles Used in Strike on Israel

Iranian medium-range ballistic missiles were used in a recent strike on Israel, with nearly 200 missiles launched directly at the country. The attack, orchestrated by the Revolutionary Guard Corps, was in retaliation for the killing of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders as well as a top Iranian commander.

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned Iran, stating that the country has made a “big mistake” and warning that they will pay for their actions. Netanyahu also claimed that the operation failed and issued a warning that anyone who attacks Israel will face retaliation.

US President Joe Biden has expressed support for Israel, stating that American forces actively supported the defense of the country by launching interceptor missiles from two US Destroyers in the Gulf. Biden reiterated that Israel has the right to defend itself.

David Des Roches, a Professor at the National Defense University and former Pentagon Director of Arabian Peninsula Affairs, has raised questions about how much of Iran’s arsenal was used in the attack.

The tensions between Iran and Israel have escalated, with both countries engaging in verbal and military exchanges. The situation remains volatile as the international community closely monitors the developments in the region.
