In southern Ohio, Thomas Dillon kills five hikers in 3 years. A tip leads FBI agents to a firearm, which ballistics analysis proves to be the murder weapon. The mother of one of the victims has a letter addressed to the murderer published in the local newspapers. The murderer comes forward, enabling the agents to build up a psychological profile of him and obtain new information. After months of surveillance, Thomas Dillon is finally arrested and convicted of his crimes.
