Another tragic case of suspected methanol poisoning has struck Laos, claiming the lives of six foreign tourists, including a second Australian teenager who recently passed away. Holly Bowles, aged 19, fell ill in the popular tourist town of Vang Vieng and ultimately succumbed to the toxic alcohol that she had consumed.
Bianca Jones, also 19, and British lawyer Simone White, 28, were among the other victims who tragically lost their lives after drinking tainted alcohol. The group of visitors were staying at the Nana Backpacker Hostel, where staff were alerted to their illness when they failed to check out on November 13th.
Authorities have detained the manager of the hostel for questioning as they investigate the source of the contaminated alcohol. The deaths have left families and friends devastated, with the Bowles family expressing their heartbreak at Holly’s untimely passing.
This string of fatalities serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that lurk when consuming alcohol in unfamiliar environments. The incidents have sent shockwaves through the tourist community in Laos and raised concerns about the safety regulations surrounding the sale and consumption of alcohol in the country.
As the investigation unfolds, questions remain about how these tragic deaths could have been prevented and what measures can be taken to ensure the safety of tourists in the future. The loss of these young lives serves as a sobering reminder of the risks that can come with indulging in alcohol while traveling, and highlights the need for greater vigilance and caution when partaking in local beverages.

Why no segment on BBC verify, that laughably claims to identify misinformation, having to remove its FALSE claim that starmars sickening undermining of farmers ability to keep farms going by passing them to their heirs would have only a limited effect. I would listen to any news from the BBC as it has become nothing more than a platform for left wing activism
Usual Victims…
Very sad. My heart goes out to all the families of the bereaved.
Alcohol the biggest devil in the world.
Such beautiful souls all gone RIP to all

If you want a high, it's there for the buying.
Like every other country.
More likely locals trying to drug them, so they could to do their dirty deeds like they do with western tourists !
This sort of thing has been going on for many years in vang vieng I remember staying away from the free shots but many tourists just want to enjoy themselves and this is what this town is known for it's very sad RIP
Methanol is alcohol, folks. It's just a kind that kills you. Bootleggers used to use it to dilute real drinkable alcohol – called Ethanol.
Idiot greedy bar owner, is what happened. Its happened in Britain, in the United States – prohibition killed thousands when the criminals used cheap methanol to replace safe Ethanol (more expensive) and loads of Americans died because of deregulated activity.
This is greed killing innocent bystanders, as always cough tobacco petroleum fast fashion chattel slavery citizens united cough which of course onky ever happens somewhere else 😉
So cheap tourists who'd rather pay for cheap drinks 🤷🏽♂️
Just ban tourism to these 3rd world shitholes.
OT!!
Benny Hill considered funnier than Monty Python by two TV stations–WOR and WLVI!
Naive blonds backpacking alone, to a dump hostel, drinking alcohol. Very smart. The parents at least should have had the foresight to prevent their daughters going or at least educate them!
Its sad and tragic but breaking news…. Really?

Heartbreaking:(
R.i.p all the victims
This is really sad, and my thoughts are with the families. But please middle-class and above Britian, stop going to these cr*p holes or if you do don't drink the water or alcohol from anywhere other than a proper hotel or establishment.
I know you think it's great going to these places, living like kings, perhaps feeling a bit superior, and it's ridiculously cheap, but it's called the third world for a reason. Fake alcohol, fake cigarettes, drugs, risk of violence/rape etc.. are the norm and these people don't care about the risks to you or your wellbeing, they are just trying to survive poverty and will do anything to make money. They're not fussy either, they poison each other as well with these fake products.
Probably lies if its bbc, better double checking with different news source
