As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia continues to escalate, the looming question remains: what will the path to peace look like for Ukraine? With President-elect Donald Trump promising to end the war quickly, pressure is mounting on all sides to find a resolution. Despite promises of more weapons from Germany and the US, Ukraine is still under heavy attack from Russia.
Amidst this turmoil, Trump’s designated special envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, has put forward a plan to bring both Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table. However, the ultimate decision lies with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who may not be inclined to consider such a deal.
President Zelenskyy of Ukraine may have to make significant concessions in exchange for peace, potentially involving the temporary surrender of territories and compromising on NATO protection. But will this be enough to persuade Putin to come to the table?
In a recent discussion on DW News, experts weighed in on the current state of the conflict and possible paths to peace. The debate touched on the lack of troops in Ukraine, Russia’s ability to absorb losses, and the risks of prolonging the war. The potential implications of Germany’s stance on NATO membership and the impact of the conflict on European affairs were also explored.
As the situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, the need for a meaningful solution becomes increasingly urgent. The debate surrounding a potential deal with Putin at the expense of Ukraine raises crucial questions about the future of the region and the international community’s role in achieving peace.

Be real with your analysis…….the west has put Ukraine in a deep problem and to admit defeat is a problem for the west. That's why the west is starting other wars but that won't work either…..
A tragic pawn.
Ukraine is by all definition a failed state. Zelensky is illegally and illegitimately in office. His term od office expired a while back.
Germany had their hand in BSing Ukraine down the primrose path of death for their people and country. There will be no NUTO.
Ukraine can make peace now.
Or it can surrender later.
DW is reliable in that when all hope is lost, they can always starts to report the truth. Did Washington now has to admit that it’s over so DW has permission to say so. Besides, they need more time focused on the latest color revolution in Georgia.
The greatest winner of Russia and Ukraine war is China. However, it's undeniable that Europe and NATO has made Russia stronger and resilient than ever.
Diplomacy is the best way to bring these two brother nations back to mutual respect and peace.
The future of Europe is uncertain.
Putin wants the oil and gas, so does NATO.
EU commited economic suicide to lead economic war against Russia! Because USA ( Biden administration)
gave orders. EU Commission Ursula V d L. understand themselves as US colonial government
and Nato´s economic war brunch!
Not Just Ukraine ,Germany has lost a lot for backing this war .
NATO troops have been right on Russia's border for decades, now, with the addition of Finland to the alliance, Putin is responsible for expanding NATO much to his chagrin. Ukraine becoming a member would just be frosting on the cake.
Good old byzantinian discussions
If new name of the place is BAVAVAYI, US$500Thrullion to Russia to make Boshi-Bosha-BAVAVAYI!😊
Never concede anything to Russia!
Russia will never allow Ukraine to get the protection from the NATO. Ukraine is doomed
Marina is the wisest in this talk.
It's surely positive that at least one western leader is finally willing to engage in serious peace negotiations, but it's crystal clear that the west is still not listening to Russia's point of view.
The most essential part in a negotiation is understanding the demands from the counterpart, but the western leaders think that that is not an issue.
They are negotiating among themselves, coming up with elaborate proposals, which have no relation with the expectations from their counterparts and are than surprised that their proposals are not taken serious.
None of the current plans, discussed in the media, come even close to Russian demands and if these plans are not significantly altered, Russia will simply reject them outright and continue the fight. Russia is clearly winning the conflict and they have no reason for significant concessions.
Putin may be willing to negotiate on the details of his demands, but if the essential demands are not met, there will be no deal.
All these western so called "experts" claim that they have no idea of the Russian losses, but after telling that, they immediately add that the Russian losses are extremely high.
There is a good (western) news outlet in Latvia, sponsored by the BBC who follows Russian casualties by counting the funerals of Russian soldiers and follow obituaries and other open source information. They give a pretty good idea about the Russian losses and they are not even close to the amounts reported by the Ukrainian MOD, which are taken over and reported, without any form of corroboration, by the western experts and the legacy media.
I'm fairly sure that these so called "experts" and the legacy media are well aware of this fact, but they don't want to use these figures because they do't fit their narratives.
Even the BBC doesn't want to publish the results of their own investigation and rather chooses to use the massively inflated figures reported by the Ukrainian government in their publications.
Why would Russia want a buffer zone with Nato in Ukraine . Does that make sense 🤔
No usa money, no Ukraine war.
Experts…😊
Western based analysts talking B.S
Russia won’t fall for trap.❤❤❤
Zelensky asked for extra $125 billion for 2025 🤓🤓🤓🤓
Germany and France must play a central role in implementing any agreement. After all they were so successful in the case of Minsk agreements.

The US ran the Maidan coup in 2014, and paved the way for it for years before. There is far more to this than "how much will Ukraine lose." Let's have the truth… but then the Empire would collapse overnight. We're cheering on the Fall, you criminals.
Why do you keep quiet that the "war in Ukraine" is a civil war?
⚜DPR, LPR, Crimea, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, supported by Russia, are fighting the Zelensky-Poroshenko Kyiv regime for their independence.
⚜The people of the new republics (DPR, LPR, Crimea, ….) voted for their independence after the coup d'etat in Ukraine, and after the Constitution of Ukraine became invalid. Truth and justice are on the voting side of the people of the new republics.
🔳There has been no state of Ukraine since February 22, 2014, because according to the Act of Independence of Ukraine, on the basis of which the state of Ukraine was created: "…. on the territory of Ukraine, only the Constitution and laws of Ukraine are in force."
If Ukraine isn't sufficient to subdue Russia, what's Plan B of NATO??
Interesting how everyone is now talking peace, if Trump had lost we would be have kept the status quo.
Remove the word "temporary" cede Territory and NATO then Zelensky got himself a deal
France macron IS the puppy at putin
How can Ukraine be low on soldiers when they've only lost 35k???
