In recent weeks, American late-night talk shows have turned their comedic focus on President Donald Trump, particularly targeting his contentious trade war with Canada. As tensions escalate between the two nations, hosts like Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jon Stewart have seized the opportunity to address the situation through humor and satire.
These television personalities have crafted a narrative that not only entertains but also resonates with the rising frustration among the American public. Trump’s provocative remarks and policies have provided ample material for comedians, who showcase the absurdity of the trade war in their monologues and skits. Jokes ranging from poking fun at Trump’s insults to highlighting the potential consequences of his policies serve to engage viewers in discussions about the seriousness of these issues.
The comedic takedown of Trump’s trade decisions further reflects a cultural shift where dissatisfaction with the administration’s approach is becoming increasingly vocal. Late-night shows have a long history of using comedy to critique political leaders, and this trend continues as they explore the implications of the ongoing trade disputes.
As audiences tune in for their nightly dose of laughter, they are also confronted with the reality of the international fallout from Trump’s policies. This unique blend of humor and commentary is galvanizing viewers, encouraging a broader dialogue about the relationship between the United States and Canada, as well as the ramifications of the current political climate.

The new episodes of South America are gonna be fire. 🔥 😂
I stopped watched american TV includes democratic satire – at the beginning of all this – and I'll continue to after all this. I thing satire appears fine – but in americas case through this large decline – it acts more like a drug – instead of strengthing democratic resolve in a declining country – it acts more like whiseky in the evening – takes the edge off. You get feel to feel like you are on the right side of history – without actually contibuting to it.
And i think for the rest of the world – it's softened the image of the US – even while so many really serious red flags were showing. The US is more like russia than any other country – but the PR is so good through channels like this satire comedy shows – that it soothes impulses that should have remained sharp and jaggedy – a lot of the issues with the US are extremely serious – and to make light them…. like when seth myers – trying to make fun of trump jokes about the US killing all the leaders of iran – and that they have no one to negociate now…. That was extrajudicial murder. There's many other examples – the way the US downplays a lot of this stuff- and because of shows like that – that point out the craziness – but also normalize – is very danger I think. It doesn't matter whether Iran regime is bad – the actions taken by the US are also bad, lack UN authroization – are illegal – and serious – and not contianed to regimes like iran. The CIA is a lawless organization (murder, torture, secret prisons, election interfence – all occuring even in democratic countries) – bombing nations constantly, illegally.
I won't allow myself to drink american whiskey in the evens – and nor should you. The parliamentary bloc is where the core of the free world. And you don't need to drink whiskey in the evening to take the edge off watching its behavior around the globe.
Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel are multi millionaire snobs. They litterley are paid to say nonsense
Glad they are pointing out the stupidity of Trump 🇨🇦
Well, Canadians are used to propaganda.
They should enjoy the show. 👏😐
They’ve been doing this since 2016, what else is new?
Billionaires think differently nice people are weak.
Elect a clown, expect a circus
This Canadian does not care anymore. I will buy Canadian, avoid purchase of US goods and will never visit Trumpsilvania for the rest of my life.
The only people who watch these awful shows are the same people who watch the news in Canada, and believe it. The meme was great, Mark Carney was never Gordie Howe, and Elbows Up was always dumb.
WHERE TRUMPS TAX, EPSTIEN FILES
These late-night shows don't have anything else of value to talk about. Never have!
What about carney 2 billion to Ukraine today 😂😂😂 elbows up 😂😂
These Late Night shows are Gen X humor, I cant think of any millenial or Gen Z person who finds Jimmy Kimmel or any of them funny. Like Trump or Hate him, I think we can all agree that these late night comedy spoofs should be shut down and removed.
Everyone’s ready to order their iPhones on Saturday though, guaranteed 💁🏼♂️🤣
Nobody cares. The late night comedians in America used to be smart. The world has changed and now people see them for who they are.
To all the cry babies in the comments section who are "elbows up" remember you're on YT an American Company 😂
Seriously Jimmy Kimmel is doing that 🤨🤨
Isn't Canada part of the British Commonwealth?
For too long america has influenced our language and writing.
Is it
Color or colour?
Potatoe or potato?
Torch or flashlight? A torch is either a flaming brand or electric. Flashlight on the other hand is nothing other than electric.
americans have bastardized the English language.
Fake conservatives are so easy to trigger.
Trump is literally devastating 250 years of American freedom and liberty as he slowly but surely turns the US into his dictatorship.
😂😂😂
CAN AMERICANS SEE THAT TRUMP IS OUT OF IT , TRUMP'S BRAINS IS FRIED WAKE UP AMERICA THAT MAN IS COMPLETLY CRAZY AND NEED TO BE CONFINED IN A MENTAL INSTITUTE
If Canada was all cool with Trump they would be mocking Canada.
If Trump says he likes air, they would take issue.
