In a shocking turn of events, law enforcement and emergency sources have reported that an American Airlines regional jet broke into two pieces after colliding with an Army Black Hawk helicopter. The tragic incident occurred in roughly seven feet of near-freezing water, raising concerns about the survivability of those onboard.
NBC News’ Tom Costello shared updates from WRC on the devastating collision, as authorities work to piece together what led to such a catastrophic event. The scene of the crash is undoubtedly a harrowing one, with emergency responders working tirelessly to assess the situation and provide aid to any survivors.
The implications of this incident are grim, highlighting the dangers that can arise when aircrafts collide. As investigations continue, questions loom about the circumstances surrounding the collision and the factors that may have contributed to the plane breaking apart.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in aviation, underscoring the importance of thorough safety protocols and vigilant monitoring to prevent such accidents in the future. Our thoughts are with the passengers and crew of the American Airlines plane, as well as the individuals involved in the rescue and recovery efforts.

Sounds like something is wrong here…my prayers and condolences to all
The traffic controllers were distracted by Trump's illegal offer to quit immediately. Consequences of half-baked measures not fully thought through.
DC is a den of thieves.
That helicopter should have been patrolling the southern border.
Trump's America.🙄
Could this be DEI?
my money is on it was intentional, no way he didn't see that plane coming, and he was even told about it from atc.
💔
this usually happens in banana republics!.
🇺🇸😇🙏🕊️👍🦅💪
You know Trump is an absolute fool when this kind of a thing can happen, but all I can find our videos about his ridiculous actions. All I want is to find out more information about this plane/helicopter crash.
Watching the video… this was clearly a deliberate act.
Accident or intentional?
Air traffic control must be all DEI HIRE.
This is such a tragedy 😢just about to land and blink of an eye it all changes your in a crash 😢Prayers to people and families and friends 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I like how they're trying to make it seem like the jet collided with the helicopter when it's clear that the helicopter collided into the jet because it split it in two
What a horrible way to die. Probably the last thing on those poor people’s minds.
Wait are you telling me purple survived that
I am surprised no one have mention that it was China's fault or National Security about this collision. lols China China China usually comes out of US news or the US government
Find out if any of the pilots were gays? They are behind this.
Wth was a black hawk on the flight path of a commercial aircraft ✈️

Horrible accident. I don't know what happened. The way NBC repirts it IS interesting though. Do they have beef with American airlines? It is the only clip I've seen where they reference American as the owner of the plane (everyone else seem to mebtuon the regional operator), and they prominnently say the plan collided with the helicopter.
Weird!?
I saw on another clip where the explained that American merely owns the plane, they are not involved in any way in the operation of it.
Not that it matters whose plane it is, but there is sonething interesting in how it is being reported.
So as soon as Donald Trump takes office and takes over the military and fires 100 FAA employees, a Blackhawk crashed into a plane? It hasn’t been two weeks and he’s already a failure and an embarrassment of a president. 🫠
And so Trump's America chaos begins. Half of you voted for him.
Until we find out who was on that flight, we won’t know for sure. That helicopter flew into that plane very intentionally looking.
Make sure to vote against infrastructure republicans!!! Can’t be spending money on things like this when we have wars to fight, when Trump said he’d end all wars.
Seems to me the commercial aircraft was right where it was supposed to be….on the glide path to approach runway 33. I think the investigation will eventually find that the army blackhawk was at an altitude and location that it had no business being. Why on earth would you allow an army helicopter flight path to go right across the landing path and low elevation of planes landing….at 200-300 ft. I dont know how the NTSB could possibly find the aircraft pilots at fault in this case. In an aircraft when landing, you cnat just fly around an oncoming helicopter when you are 300-400 ft from touching down on the r uh nway and at 200 ft elevation. It should have been the helicopter pilots responsability to avoid the air space of any landing commercial aircraft approved for landing. The aircraft MUST be lined up and on a specific glide path at that critical point in landing. That Blackhawk had a zillion other places and other elevations it. Ould have been at to stay out of the flight path of aircraft landing or taking off of either of the DCA runways. This is very tragic and sad…but I think the Helicolter pilot was a fault. Just my early guess on this. Also, there is data that has just been made pu lic that shows the flight NM path of the aircraft which was heading north/northwest on its proper approach to Runway 33. The last contact with the p,ane was like 8:48:01…at an elevation of about 200 ft which is exactly where it would be right beforetouching down on Runway 33. The flight path of the helicopter shows it came down the river, from the north, down the river, past the airport heading south almost flying down the middle of the river from way north of the airport, to the point of the head on collision just south and east of the airport….right in the way of the DCA runway 33 glide path. Last contact with helicopter was like 8:47:58. At 250 ft.? Elevation. Someone wasnt thinking, and I think it was the people on a "training flight" crossing paths with the landing glide path to a major airport. Also in the one video, it sure looms like the helicopter flew into the aircraft, not the other way around. The commercial aircraft should clearly have priority on its final decent seconds before landing. You cant maneuver a commercial aircraft to maneuver "around" a helicopter thats put itself on a stupid flight path at the end of a major commercial airport.
Why are we not hearing anything from our military? Where is their report?? Just airline so far. Looks like helicopter hit plane. Not other way around.
Let the lies and cover-up begin. Isn't odd that all these News channels have the same headline that a Passenger plane collides into a Blackhawk Military Helicopter as if somehow our eyes are failing to see that that Blackhawk Military Helicopter flew straight into that AA Commercial descending aircraft!! This is an horrific aviation failure at the highest level, my God.
My prayers to all the victims of this tragic suspicious incident 🙏🏼, and salute to our first responders and their recovery efforts.
Our military is wildly incompetent.
America sucks full stop.
Bet it was DEI caused.
I pray they knew the good Lord God
Not trying to speculate, but they aren’t making it easy not to.
