Dan Kolcun has turned a simple task of breaking in footballs into a lucrative business serving NFL and college teams. With years of experience under his belt, Kolcun has prepped footballs for multiple Super Bowls and prestigious college programs like Ohio State. Interestingly, before 2006, only NFL home teams were allowed to use specially prepared balls in games. However, a group of players, including Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, successfully lobbied for both teams to have the choice of using prepped footballs, leading to a surge in the seriousness with which college programs approached ball prepping. Today, football customization is taken to the next level, with every aspect of production being tailored to the team’s needs, from the leather used to the shape of the ball.
As the demand for custom footballs continues to rise among prominent football teams, the business of ball prepping has become a niche yet thriving industry. Kolcun’s expertise and dedication to providing teams with high-quality, game-ready footballs have solidified his reputation as a go-to professional in the field. His meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering top-notch products have earned him the trust of some of the most elite teams in football.
In conclusion, the story of how Dan Kolcun turned muddy footballs into a successful business for Super Bowl and college teams showcases the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation that can transform a seemingly simple task into a booming industry. With a blend of passion, expertise, and dedication, Kolcun has carved out a niche for himself in the world of football equipment preparation, setting a high standard for quality and professionalism in the business.

Imo this is the biggest bs i‘ve ever seen!
I think using a type of pottery clay with more water added to it would be more hygienic. I bet those footballs smells like swamp poop…
It's fascinating to see how a specialized process can make such a significant impact on the game. 🏆🏈
why is dude giving away all his secrets? He stupid?
In the grand scheme of things, the NFL isn't breaking the bank buying these balls. Chicken feed in a billions of dollars sporting industry. I'm also not a fan of fake leather, no matter how much they try to market it as "faux." I'd rather spend on genuine leather – it'll last longer.
Yes folks the narrator said slathering balls haha
It's bout time NFL quarterbacks were allowed to play with their own balls. College QBs as well. 🏈😂
Dan definitely is not a specialist. He’s cheating not only NFL with the ridiculousness that he’s showing you but he’s probably also cheating for them by putting illegal substances inside or on the ball to give the quarterback an advantage… this literally should not be allowed. It should all be handled by the NFL privately it should not be outsourced because that’s exactly where corruption is going to come in.
So stupid. Take a ball out of the box, pump it to the standard psi, and play ball. This crap must stop!
ha! this is awesome
Cricket player here… In the sport of cricket any manipulation to the ball is considered cheating. Sand paper gate. It crazy how 2 quaterbacks convinced an organization to balls to be tampered such that QBs are able to handle the ball better than new.
Pay extra to select perfect leather, and ensure pristine football.
Pay extra to rub dirt and scuff up football.
America. F* Yeah.
bro what lmao this is hilarious
Football is a joke if you have to do this to a ball
Artificially weathering an item uhhhh okay. Seems like any advantage right KC ?!
“ I recently beat Rodney in an arm wrestling contest” it has nothing to do with football I just think it’s important that you know it
This can be automated… hmm new business idea?
The NFL needs a drastic paycut. End Rascisms riiiiiiiiiiiight. In a league were “slaves” get treated like Kings the Left is lost. So is google for that matter
Dumb
They make mellon cleaning machines , you could easily use one to do this job by modifing the brushes with mud
How are you gona make different sized balls for individual players?
Jeezus chrimimney
What a wank
I think there was a Dirty Jobs episode about this type of thing for baseballs.
This the jobs yall cry about , what a waste
Sports today is out of control in this country……Hey I like my jock strap & cup broken in by having an adult male suck on it for three days directly after i wear it fir 24hrs…..Ok!
btw for anyone wondering. That "secret balm" they use is just a form of "dubbin wax"… Nothing special, they just don't want to give the secret away as they're overcharging to hell
Thats a handegg, not a football
