The trade tariff turmoil caused by President Trump’s policies is driving Canada to reconsider its relationship with the United States. After enduring the imposition and subsequent suspension of tariffs, Canadian leaders are now exploring the possibility of turning towards the European Union as a potential alternative partner. This shift in focus has led to prominent publications such as The Toronto Star and The Economist openly questioning whether Canada should align more closely with Europe.
The idea of Canada forging stronger ties with the EU is gaining traction, with European politicians also weighing in on the matter. This potential realignment of alliances raises the question of whether this could signify a significant shift in global partnerships. The strained relations between the US and Canada due to trade tariffs have prompted Canadian leaders to reassess their reliance on their southern neighbor and consider diversifying their international relationships.
As tensions between the US and Canada continue to escalate, the prospect of Canada turning towards the European Union for more stable trade relations becomes more plausible. The implications of this potential shift are far-reaching and could have a lasting impact on the geopolitical landscape. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving situation.

Something that isn't often mentioned in coverage of this story is that Trump negotiated a new free trade deal with Canada and Mexico in 2018. Trump is jnow breaking his own trade agreement.
If the USA cannot be trusted to honour commitments made to it's closet ally and trading partner, why would any nation have any faith in the USA as a reliable partner?
We should join the EU. As a Canadian I am for it
Wouldnt it create conflicting feelings for the king?
As a Canadian, I am all for this.
Trump will probably cut this idea at the knees in order to keep canada within its influence. I sense a long term plan to check Canada's attempts to break away from his interpretation of the future.
I think joining clubs is for the weak.
Canada would be a welcome member in EU!
Then Mexico can join too. Give a good reason. Because we clearly can’t join BRICS, sadly.
Welcome Canada to join Association of Southeast Asian Nations!
I welcome all Europeans to join Canada… Please some of you populate our army and bring all your national secrets so we can defend ourselves against the orange emperor
Please give EU passport
Why not become 51st state of the US eliminate that arrifical line and get all benefits …te country would be BIGGER than even Russia BTW
Not just Canada, but most countries need to rethink US ties.
USA Military force coming to Canadian soil soon if Canada tries to join EU and don't follow suit with Americas 51state. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Join EU means tons of regulations and more bureaucracy plus censorship, good luck with that
Stop it. Canada is not joining that circus side show.
Ha i see what eu is trying to pull here lol.
I could care less if Cana joins or not.
One thing is sure Greenland is becomeing part of uncle sam.
If the EU would accept Canada as a member nation, I would have no problem with joining up.
Europe has to reform as soon as possible then think of Canada
Go head join them, then you'll learn why the uk left. Oh yeah almost forgot just bend the knee Canada.
Canada would be the perfect pacific gateway for the EU, we are incredibly similar culturally with deep rooted ties; vinland was in what is now newfoundland after all!
Great idea…
Canada and the EU.
I'm learning french now 😁
I am in full favor of this, joining EU is great idea for us considering the global situation
I hope this is taken seriously. From a Canadian
Germany leans on Russia , Canada overly relies on US trades.
Canada can stand on its own.
Qualquer sofrimento pro canada e pouco, quem se mistura com porco, come lavagem.
Maybe if Canada invaded and conquered Kaliningrad, we would have a province in Europe.
TRUMP will destroy US from within lol. Russia and China just sit back and enjoy to show lol
But, wouldnt letting russia in make more sense than going to war? After all they also have much more land and resources than people. Instead they were categorically told there is no room for them in neither eu nor nato.
Canada joins EU, and then illegal immigrants came to Canada from EU and then came to USA? No chance!
Why does trump think the US is great without their alies?
3:28 Did he just say there is no definition on what a European state is? Was that seriously said live on air? Does nothing have a definition anymore? What?
I love how they will discuss "all sorts of things".
Trade agreement yes, but membership an absolute loud NO!
The US is representing and offering to Canada&Canadians being a lunch meal for multi billion dollar corporations while they owned by certain groups or individuals. However, Canad-a(ians) share the prosperity, freedom and safety for everyone in this country. We are not looking for a supermen to set up tax-free billion dollar corporations.
if Trump continues with this policy, he will have only one loyal ally Putin
Every single province in Canada trades more with the US than they do with all the other provinces in Canada. Joining the EU would do nothing for Canada’s client-state status.
That would be great to have Canada in the EU ❤❤❤❤❤
Canada and EU (Denmark) share a land border so it would be natural to trade with neighbouring countries.
Wait a second. If USA is the equivalente of the EU. Why should Canada want to become a state of the EU instead of becoming a state of the U.S.? What am I missing?
I don't what would be be the US answer.
Is there an International rule of laws exist ?
No MAGAs here protesting. Love it.
The whole world should join the E”U”. Then, EU will surpass US as the world largest economy.
Saint-Pierre & Miquelon is France and in Canada. Clipperton Island is France and in Mexico.
Canada & Mexico
Join EUROPEAN UNION/NATO NOW
We’re all good;
Canadians want to stay as Canada. Not be part of the EU, not part of the US
