Exclusive: Natalie ‘Octomom’ Suleman’s Name Change from ‘Nadya’

Natalie Suleman, better known as ‘Octomom,’ has been a controversial figure in the media ever since giving birth to octuplets in 2009. In a recent interview with ET’s Rachel Smith, Suleman opened up about her decision to no longer go by the name ‘Nadya’ and how she feels about the ‘Octomom’ label today.

Suleman discussed her upcoming Lifetime biopic, ‘I Was Octomom,’ and docuseries, ‘Confessions of Octomom,’ which are set to premiere in March. She explained why now was the right time for her family to tell their story and break down misconceptions surrounding her eight youngest children.

The mother of 14 revealed that she initially only wanted to have one more child, but ended up giving birth to octuplets due to a fertility treatment at the hospital. The experience thrust her into the public eye and led to the ‘Octomom’ persona that she has struggled to shed ever since.

Suleman also touched on how the hospital’s involvement in her story affected her family and why she made the decision to stop using the name ‘Nadya.’ She expressed her feelings about the label today and how she wants to move forward with her life and her family.

With the premieres of ‘I Was Octomom’ and ‘Confessions of Octomom’ approaching, fans will have the opportunity to hear Suleman’s side of the story and learn more about the woman behind the ‘Octomom’ headlines.
