In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Costco’s CEO Ron Vachris discussed the inner workings of the company’s successful Kirkland Signature brand. With an impressive $86 billion in sales, Kirkland Signature has become a staple in Costco’s lineup, offering high-quality products at competitive prices.
During the interview, Vachris highlighted Costco’s strong employee retention rates, attributing this success to the company’s unique culture and focus on employee satisfaction. He also mentioned the importance of the ‘Costco guys,’ a group of dedicated employees who play a key role in the development and success of the Kirkland brand.
One of the reasons behind Kirkland’s popularity and success, according to Vachris, is the strong brand affinity that customers have for the label. Unlike other retail giants like Walmart and Target, Kirkland products offer a sense of trust and quality that keeps customers coming back.
Vachris also touched on the process of creating a Kirkland product, revealing that Costco works closely with suppliers to ensure high-quality standards are met. This hands-on approach has allowed Costco to control costs and maintain the competitive prices that customers have come to expect from the Kirkland brand.
Despite its success, Vachris acknowledged that not every Kirkland product has been a hit. He highlighted a few items that have struggled in the past, but emphasized Costco’s commitment to continuously improving and refining its offerings.
Looking towards the future, Vachris expressed optimism for the Kirkland brand, stating that Costco will continue to innovate and expand its product lineup to meet the changing needs of customers. With a focus on quality, affordability, and customer satisfaction, it’s clear that Kirkland Signature will remain a cornerstone of Costco’s business model for years to come.

Bravo, bravo, bravo.. a shining example of decent capitalism and win, win, win proposition..
Rotisserie chicken is great, but a little bland. Spice it up a little.
Costco is no longer the store it used to be ever since the inflation hit the country. Also, the quality of some goods has noticeably regressed. Croissant is one of the examples.
Kirkland does good work…
Costco❤❤❤
I thought this was about hotdogs. I want hotdogs now
What a humble guy compared to the average CEO. Just another reason to love Costco.
Can't believe she didn't ask the most important question.
The hot dogs.
Treat your customers and employees well and everything else will follow. Love Costco. ❤
Oh the joy of american over consumerism. Come in for a rotisserie chicken and walk out with a piano. That sums it up.
"Welcome to Costco, I love you"
I sent Ron a complaint email about my store experience and he responded back same day. It was awesome.
While I love Costco as a company, alot of their products have been victims of shrinkflation – such as toilet paper, their dried mangos, muffins etc. Prices are rising and portions shrinking. Often times now, I can find better prices elsewhere at retailers like Winco or a Restaurant supply store – especially meat and produce.
Never forget, charlie munger another down to earth guy is a big investor of costco. Just shows that there is alignment of the company and investor values

I love Costco! Blessings to all!
I love Costco and shopping there. Don’t sleep on their vacation packages either!
Out of all retailers Costco has been getting the majority of my money over the last few decades!
The one I work at is a constant revolving door of employees and the majority are forgein temporary immigrants. True.
Yup, 6 dollar chicken = total bill of $200.
Bring back meat pepperoni and sausage pizza!!!!
The thing about Costco is, no matter what I buy I always know it will be a top quality product.
Dude is a gangster.
I'm so curious what it is about razors that they can't replicate. Seems like a simple product to me
I love Costco simply because they care for their employees the prices are also amazing
Please come to India
Look at how he's wearing a Costco badge like any other employee. That tells us that he's proud to be working there
The reason that Costco employees stay, is the pay, the benefits, and the culture. Being that C levels started in the warehouse is worlds better than hiring in some tone deaf c level from elsewhere that is only looking to increase shareholder value at the expense of the employees
Did you know even some other brands when they manufacture for Costco they intentionally create it at a higher quality than that of their regular product. Chinese sausages are juicier and bigger than their normal stuff same brand.
Q: How Kirkland products are made.
A: Costco doesn't make anything.
