Why You’ll Love This Recipe
What could be better than a recipe that can effortlessly transform from warm, gooey cookies into luscious blondies? Ina Garten’s approach ensures that you have all the flavors you love, whether you’re team cookie or team blondie. With just a few key ingredients and a straightforward method, you’ll create treats that are not only easy to make but also irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients
To whip up these delightful desserts, you’ll need:
- For the Chocolate Chunk Cookies:
- 1/2 pound unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 1/4 pounds semisweet chocolate chunks
Directions
-
Preheat & Prepare: Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
-
Cream It Up: In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
-
Add Flavor: Pour in the vanilla extract and beat in the eggs, one at a time, making sure each egg is well incorporated before adding the next.
-
Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and kosher salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
-
Mix In Goodies: Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chunks, creating a delicious cookie dough.
-
Scoop & Shape: Use a 1 3/4-inch-diameter ice cream scoop or a rounded tablespoon to drop dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Dampen your hands and slightly flatten each dough mound.
-
Bake: Place the cookies in the oven and bake for exactly 15 minutes, until they appear slightly underdone. This keeps them chewy and moist!
- Cool: After baking, allow the cookies to cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve and Enjoy!
Whether you prefer them fresh out of the oven as cookies or allow them to set and transform into blondies, Ina’s creations are sure to impress. The combination of rich, semisweet chocolate, crunchy walnuts, and buttery dough makes every bite pure bliss.

Both ways look delicious!
If you bake cookies until they are completely done, they will be as hard as a rock after they cool, in my experience. Both of those look delicious.
Mom roasted walnuts from our own orchard to use in cookies, brownies, fudge, cake, from scratch.. I sure do miss that! 😁
love all of em
I've seen the lemon marmalade method for you from years, please do it again or write down the ingredients and the method❤
I'd never make thin chocolate chunk cookies. The whole point of cookies is to have be thick and delicious. Why waste your time having them be thin? Are you trying to lose weight or something? Also, I'd NEVER add in walnuts. I hate nuts in any dessert.
Ahhh I see she’s getting high on her own supply😂
Gotta love chocolate cookies by Ina Garten. Unless it's Blonde cookies. 🍫🍪🍫🍪
I love both with vanilla bean ice cream and whip cream.
Jeffery loves Ina's chunky cookie !
Whatever Ina is making I’m making because I know they are 🤌🏻😋🤌🏻
I can't eat all that sugar anymore. The butter and vanilla sounded good though
Got milk?
LOVE Ina, but both of those are really over baked. Cookies like that need 10 mins max and knock 8-10 mins off the blondies 😉
Can’t wait to try these 🥰
I’ve been looking for a thin crispy cookie recipe!!! ❤️
The cookies in the thumbnail look completely different to the ones in the video
The music is annoying
Take a shot, every time she says blondies, 😂😂😂.
I binged-watch Ina's show every chance I get since 14 years ago. She made me fall in love with baking! Something about her beautiful large kitchen, her recipes, her cooking for Jeffrey, her humility and the way she teach her recipes, so wholesome and heartwarming 🎉
