Carney, Canadian Premiers United on “Nation-Building” Projects
In a significant gathering, Prime Minister Mark Carney and the premiers of Canada’s provinces convened in Saskatoon for the latest First Ministers Meeting, signaling a pivotal moment for the nation’s path forward. As the Liberal government gears up for action in Parliament’s second week, the leaders emerged with a united front, emphasizing key priorities that could shape the future of the country.
During the 30-minute press conference following the meeting, Carney and the premiers articulated a collective agreement on the need to accelerate various "nation-building" projects. While they refrained from disclosing a concrete list of these initiatives, the discussions highlighted areas of critical importance, including the development of pathways for critical minerals, advancements in nuclear power, and strategies for decarbonizing oil and gas production in Canada.
In a move reflecting an inclusive approach, Carney noted that upcoming federal legislation will stipulate mandatory consultations with First Nations regarding the selection of projects. This underscores a commitment to ensuring that Indigenous voices are integral to the decision-making processes surrounding nation-building efforts.
Despite a backdrop of uncertainty affecting the public, the mood among the premiers was largely optimistic. Ontario Premier Doug Ford characterized the meeting as the most fruitful in a decade, suggesting a newfound collaborative spirit among the provinces and the federal government. The shared vision articulated during this meeting hints at a concerted effort to address pressing national issues while fostering a spirit of unity among Canada’s diverse regions.
As the leaders prepare to navigate the complexities of these initiatives, the commitment to nation-building resonates as a beacon of hope for Canadians looking to the future. The outcomes of these discussions may very well define Canada’s trajectory in the coming years, as stakeholders across the nation watch closely for developments that promise to reshape the landscape of Canadian governance and infrastructure.

very good im happy, but pls Build those 1 million houses, still not see those houses this is extremly frustrating
Canada needs to create jobs. 🥰🇨🇦🥰
Good
Alberta was never seperating, hut it was a great tool to gain concessions.
We should put a couple of ports in the arctic: one either in Nunavut or NWT and one in the north of Quebec. There's a gravel road out to the Canispscau region. It should be extended to the Tasiajuq/Aupaluk area, then, all the way out to Ivujivik. The road from Deception to Donaldson is proof where there's a will there's a way. Then alot of those Inuit and Innu communities up north could build access roads to the main highway, connecting them to the rest of Canada
these meetings are just waste of time and money, nothing more, Canada is not a serious nation, what stopped Justin from doing nation building process in last 10 years, saying that Premiers are united on nation building projects, Does that mean before they are not serious, before they were just chilling in office. I am confident that not much gonna happen with these meetings, unless nation building project means building some bike lanes, creating more genders, adding more genders on passport etc.
I’m excited about our future in Canada! Finally!!! 🇨🇦
Very exciting to see the federal and provincial leaders collaborating.
Very very impressive. Thank you everyone.
God bless Trump the best president ever🙏🙏
❤❤❤ Canada team
Americans this is Democracy. Trump sadly doesn't understand World Wide Enterprise.
What I got from this meeting is the feds will pass and fast track with discovery and delivery (think paper work and implementing at the same time) if the premieres can engage private sector to help and Canada will retain investment. Win win. Now the premieres need to do their jobs.
why did we go through the lst 10 years ? Justin Trudeau was a complete disaster lol and now we are gonna be normal again , probably not
Bravos
Great to see our leaders united. The future is bright for Canada 🇨🇦
There is also a moral obligation the rest of the world to develop our resources. Canada is a large part of the fixed land mass and resources of this planet but a very small proportion of its population. The rest of the 8 billion people of this world need access to the natural resources Canada can provide to them. We are reliable, peaceful and democratic nation that can be a model to other nations and also help them achieve their own prosperity. We just need to stop the infighting and get our act together.
How does a signed free trade agreement warrant Tariffs?

So proud to have work toward a unified Canada. As long as smith stops her separation talks it really could work.
Now you need to have a meeting with the First Nations and work with them and let them know what you have planned and introduced it to the house and now to them so they can voice their concerns and work on solutions to make all parties happy.
🇨🇦 Now that national unity is at stake, the media finally does their job and ask reasonable questions, uuggghhhh. Alberta Independence
