Air Canada Flight Attendant Strike: What’s Next?
In a significant turn of events for the ongoing labour dispute involving Air Canada, the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) has deemed it unlawful for flight attendants to defy a federal back-to-work order. Despite this ruling, workers remain steadfast on the picket lines, showing a determination that suggests they are far from ready to relent in their demands. This decision by the CIRB has heightened tensions within the airline industry, particularly as the strike continues to disrupt travel plans for countless passengers.
The flight attendants’ union appears to have dug in its heels, indicating a resolve that hints at a larger struggle not just for workplace benefits, but for broader rights within the sector. Neetu Garcha explores the ramifications of this situation, highlighting the potential chaos that looms as the dispute continues to unfold. With passengers facing flight cancellations and delays, the pressure on both sides intensifies as public frustration mounts.
In the face of this industrial unrest, speculation surrounds what might happen next. Will the government intervene further to enforce the back-to-work order? Can the union maintain its momentum amidst mounting public scrutiny? As the situation develops, all eyes are on Air Canada and its flight attendants, who are caught in a complex negotiation that goes beyond mere job security.
The Air Canada flight attendants’ strike is not just a momentary inconvenience; it represents a crucial chapter in the ongoing dialogue about workers’ rights and corporate responsibility in Canada. As stakeholders prepare for what could be a protracted battle, the implications of this conflict resonate beyond the skies, sparking debates about the future of labour relations in the country.

Liberal govt need to use emergency powers to get this contained. (Sarcasm in case you’re simple minded)
Ok, so when truckers violated orders and were considered economic terrorists, arrests and bank accounts were drained. Where's the crackdown here? How is this different other than it is affecting people all over earth instead of just citizens within 4 blocks of downtown Ottawa?
Liberal voters really screwed this country.
Air Canada CEO negotiating with employees through news channels 😀
Just pay them and back to work easy, worsts liberal ever this is why I don’t vote them
In the business world, they tell us it’s about providing value and solving problems — the more value you give, the more money you make. That’s capitalism, they say. A system designed to maximize shareholder profits, where management focuses on padding their own pockets. And sure, they’ll tell you, “If you don’t like it, you can leave.”
But look at the reality: a CEO taking $12 million while the operations team — working full-time, giving their sweat and energy every single day — earns barely $1,900 a month. People forced to cram into a house with 15 others. People lining up at food banks just to survive.
This is not business. This is not fair. This is modern-day slavery wearing a suit and tie.
If we stay silent, nothing changes. So let’s stand shoulder to shoulder, raise our voices, and fight — not just for ourselves, but for justice, dignity, and a future where work truly pays for a life worth living
The highest temperature on record for this day Aug 18th was 35.0 deg C set in 1867.(Not a typo)

The flight attendants should report for work if forced to do so, but then do zero work until they are on the clock. Simply sit on the plane and wait for it to load on its own. Asking them to work for free seems bizarre in a country with labour laws.
Air Canada needs to "work to rule" if they're forced back. I have no idea why the workers are expected to do unpaid tasks.
Let us all remenber that our liberty and freedom end when those of our fellow man start… That goes for Air Canada, the Union strike workers and employees, and to the stranded customers! No balance, utter disaster…
I love how the flight attendants union only cherry picks things that make it look like there all hard done by. Fact…over 50% of air Canada flight attendants make over $50,000 per year. Senior attendants (5 yrs and up) average $70,000 – $120,000. Yes 50% make less than $50,000, but this is because they don't work full time. Aviation law only allows them to be in the air for no more than 35 hrs in a seven day period. Starting pay is $30/hr. Most only get 30hrs per week in the air. The industry also have a very high turn over rate, around 50% only last 6 months. This is because its a crappy job. Constantly changing schedule, dealing with the public, always on the road.
38% increase seems fair!!! I got 1% last year. Also, they're getting their ground time pay.
That is the reason why this country sucks, the unions are parasites of the country. If they don’t like the pay why don’t quit? When they applied the job, they knew this is how they get paid from day one. So dumb to hold passengers hostage.
Quit the job and good luck to find a job in Canada with your skill sets!!
Is Carney ?? Gonna Debank them … Who knows what that 🤡 is thinkin or gonna do ?
Sell air canada 🇨🇦
Air Canada strike is officially illegal. Everyone who refuses to go back to work should be fired and replaced.
I'm tempted to go to the airport and offer to drive people where they're going, as long as they pay for the gas and $25/hour for the round trip.
2:22 maybe she should lay off the plastic surgery…
Unpaid time was structured by the unions originally. How about ditching the union and bargaining for yourself?
