Prabhas, S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ Unveils Teaser

“RRR” director S.S. Rajamouli has unveiled the teaser for “Baahubali: The Epic.”

Released worldwide between 2015 and 2018, the “Baahubali” films – “Baahubali: The Beginning” and “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” – directed by Rajamouli and produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni for Arka Mediaworks, were made on a combined budget of $70 million and collected $370 million globally. Presented in Telugu and Tamil, and several dubbed versions, the films featured Indian stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia. On its own, “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” is the second highest grossing Indian film of all time, after “Dangal.”

In the “Baahubali” films, when a lost prince is rescued and raised in exile, he grows up unaware of his past. Years later, he returns to uncover the truth about his father’s murder and his mother’s imprisonment, and must rise to reclaim his place as the rightful king. Baahubali (Prabhas) and Bhallaladeva (Daggubati) are the protagonist and antagonist respectively.

Now, for the 10th anniversary of the saga, the epic tale of royalty, revenge, kings, and wars has been re-edited by Rajamouli from two films into a single film, with fully remastered picture and sound – “and a few new surprises” as the producers claim.

Post the “Baahubali” films, five seasons of animated series “Baahubali: The Lost Legends,” produced by Arka and Graphic India were released on Amazon Prime Video.

Rajamouli went on to direct anti-colonial saga “RRR,” starring NTR Jr and Ram Charan, which won an Oscar and a Golden Globe and is the fourth highest grossing Indian film of all time.

 The filmmaker is currently filming his next feature, which is an as-yet-untitled globe-trotting adventure inspired by the “Indiana Jones” and “James Bond” franchises starring Indian superstar Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
