Writers: Martin Davidson, Bruce M. Sherman
Cast:
- Sylvester Stallone as Stanley Rosiello
- Perry King as Chuck Bronsky

In the heart of Brooklyn during the late 1950s, The Lords of Flatbush offers an evocative portrait of teenage life, encapsulated in a world of leather jackets, camaraderie, and the trials of growing up. This coming-of-age film, released in 1974, stars a young ensemble of actors, notably Sylvester Stallone, Perry King, Henry Winkler, and Paul Mace, each bringing to life the complex dynamics of friendship and the emotional turbulence of adolescence.
The film revolves around a gang of friends—The Lords—who embody the quintessential tough-guy image while also grappling with vulnerability and uncertainty. Stallone shines as Stanley, a street-smart yet sensitive member of the group, whose struggles intertwine with the aspirations of his friends. Perry King plays Chuck, whose ambitions conflict with gang loyalty, while Winkler portrays Butch, a character balancing bravado with moments of introspection.
The Lords of Flatbush is a rich tapestry of youthful rebellion and poignant moments that reflect the essence of growing pains. It balances tough-guy posturing with humor and tenderness, making it not just a film about friendship but also about the inevitable passage into adulthood. As they navigate their relationships, romance, and the pressures of their environment, the film captures the restless energy that defines youth.
With its blend of nostalgia, humor, and heart, The Lords of Flatbush remains a compelling testament to the experiences that shape our formative years, making it a must-watch for fans of classic cinema and coming-of-age stories alike.

Not sure what this movie was even about. But I remember guys school like this. Now they ride a beach cruiser around town with socks up to the knees
Great story ❤

Pre-Rocky, Pre Happy Days
I saw this movie at the drive in when it fist released, and never gave the main characters a second thought. I had never heard of any of them. I had no idea until today.
"Flatbush " is what happens when you squish it down by laying on it at the beach ,i think anyways lol
I remember seeing this movie and American Graffiti as a double feature in Seattle in summer of 73. I was ten years old.
25 year olds playing 17 year olds 🤷♂️
Susan Blakely was stunning!
Those were the days,
My friend
We thought they'd never end,
We'd sing and dance
Forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young
and sure to find our way….

Richard Gere was originally cast as Chico but was fired due to conflicts with Stallone during rehearsals. In a 2006 interview Stallone explained:
We never hit it off. He would strut around in his oversized motorcycle jacket like he was the baddest knight at the round table. One day, during an improv, he grabbed me (we were simulating a fight scene) and got a little carried away. I told him in a gentle fashion to lighten up, but he was completely in character and impossible to deal with. Then we were rehearsing at Coney Island and it was lunchtime, so we decided to take a break, and the only place that was warm was in the backseat of a Toyota. I was eating a hotdog and he climbs in with a half a chicken covered in mustard with grease nearly dripping out of the aluminum wrapper. I said, "That thing is going to drip all over the place." He said, "Don't worry about it." I said, "If it gets on my pants you're gonna know about it." He proceeds to bite into the chicken and a small, greasy river of mustard lands on my thigh. I elbowed him in the side of the head and basically pushed him out of the car. The director had to make a choice: one of us had to go, one of us had to stay. Richard was given his walking papers and to this day seriously dislikes me.
Love this movie,..
Dude in the green silk jacket could have been the 5th Lord.

1:13:30 crazy how back then you can just say those things and that was just normal. “Chinks chinks chinks” 😂 but I guess back in the 70’s it was like the Vietnam era and before that was the Korean War and before that Japan in WW2.
the early versiom o f the outsiders!!
Henry W lacks the tough guy image 😲
Man if it wasn't a damn musical & it was serious, with fights,it would of been great!! Fonzie & rocky.add motorcycles!
Looks like this movie of the past has produced this generation. Beats me.
