No way her vo2max is 41
So I’m back in an exercise program and work out approximately 12-15 hours a week after 4 years of inactivity. I’m lifting, warrior hot yoga, cycling, swimming and working with a personal trainer. Additionally, I’ve changed my diet to be protein based too. I weigh in every 2 weeks with my PT and the results show there. My weight keeps going down, lean muscle increasing and baby fat decreasing. Plus I’m taking supplements as well.
In a nutshell, I’m feeling so much better.
Isn't this just common sense though? Improve cardiovascular health and improve your chances of longevity. They just use VO2 max as the measurable metric. The HIIT modality of the 4×4 workout, is the tool. This shouldn't come as surprise to anyone who follows fitness. The grip strength thing I found interesting. I don't do dead hangs very consistently. I used to years ago to develop grip strength for competitive deadlifting. But it was less than 90 seconds. Now I do them mostly for scapular retractions.
These comments don’t disappoint! Once I saw HER, I almost tripped running to these comments! Gold!
Assuming asthmatics are doomed given they already have lower VO2 max…
Gotta fight against sarcopenia.
This is not the secret to longevity. Rigorously working out for 10 hours a week, weightlifting, weighted backpack hikes, hiring expensive nutritionist, etc is not the key. He's just saying things that our mind would naturally associate with healthy living, so we wouldn't instinctively disagree.
There have been studies of Blue Zones in the world that regularly have people who live to 100. The keys are:
1.Healthy natural diet – mostly plant based
2.Regular low impact exercise, e.g. walking, gardening, or dancing. The key is to do things that you can work into everyday life.
3.Strong family and community ties.
4.Stress Management: Moderate alcohol consumption (especially red wine) and regular naps or relaxation techniques.
These are the real habits of people that live to 100.
Noting new here. You watch your intake and the fatty food, you move your muscles daily, your body will thank you, unless you have chronic issues. Its a simple thing. The worse part is, as we get older, we still think, we can it eat/drink like a 16 year old.
Dr. Attia seems to diminish the worth of a lifespan of individuals who don't have kids. The whole "timeline" theory – and assuming that one's kids will result in automatic grandkids really turned me off. I can buy into some of his concepts, but marginalizing an entire group of folks without kids isn't particularly motivating. I get that it's not the norm, but it was quite off-putting
Nora looks hotter than most 25 year olds. Good for her.
Nora is a badass! 💙

This is the guy who should be running the HHS
Dr. Attia exercises 10 or more hours per week. Meanwhile, there is no proof that it will actually add more years to your life than exercising 2 to 3 hours per week. You can achieve a healthy and long life without having wellness take over your time.
Stretching, weight training, rowing, cycling, hiking, meditation helps at my age 57.

Americans are SOOOOO gullible
I ate a squirrel yesterday. Today, I do push ups. Living my best life.
My grandchildren are 4 in their mid 30ties and 2 in their 20ties. Now I am at nearly 90, things are going downhill, neuropathy – what to do?
So no new info whatsoever. Exercise is good for the brain and body. Got it.
"Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life." Proverbs 9:11
Will your vo2 increase if you just train half of your body on a stationary bike and the other half no exercise
Just remember, this man dropped out of residency so he had no way to make a living. He HAD to develop something because he likely had oodles of medical school debt. Just saying. If it sounds like shooting for the (very expensive) moon, it probably is.
What if you can’t run
1:30 VO2 max
5:00 EXERCISE!
You can get a VO2 max performed at many university based sports med programs.
60 Minutes, one of the most informative shows on TV.
i have NEVER seen this guy dead hang fro 2 min…NEVEr but he tells you you have o do it
Dr Attia please talk about blindness caused by RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION and how we will one day unclog that blood clot
I gave up on today's so called healthcare system years ago. I get way better results with fasting, diet, and natural cures.
"VO2 max was different –but within a few points…" WHICH DIRECTION -can you elaborate??
The irony about it is that his level of intensity make speak to anxiety and this mental state can undo all of the health and nutrition
5:00 – I challenge any of you listeners to do this…Im a male in my 30s & can easily do 15 pull ups…I can HARDLY do a 60 second dead hang on the pull up bar…For a woman to do 1:30 & 2:00 is not likely for most in my opinion (considering most men can’t even do 10 clean pull ups).
carry 75% of your weight? did I hear that right?
