Summary of The Killer That Stalked New York
Released in 1950, The Killer That Stalked New York is a gripping semi-documentary noir film that masterfully weaves together themes of crime and public health crisis. Directed by the skilled Andre De Toth, the film stars Evelyn Keyes as the frantic smuggler, alongside Charles Korvin and William Bishop, who contribute significantly to the film’s intense atmosphere.
The narrative kicks off when a smuggler unknowingly transports smallpox into the bustling city, setting off a chain of events that intertwine her desperate attempts to evade the law with an emerging public health emergency that threatens millions of lives. As the city grapples with the looming dread of contagion, the unfolding drama serves as a reflection of postwar anxieties around disease and moral decay.
Keyes delivers a standout performance, capturing her character’s increasingly frantic state as she navigates both the criminal underworld and the growing panic of those around her. The film is notable not only for its suspenseful storyline but also for its poignant commentary on paranoia and the societal fears prevalent in 1950s America.
With its striking cinematography and a tense score that amplifies the emotional stakes, The Killer That Stalked New York stands as a chilling reminder of how quickly societal order can unravel under the threat of unseen dangers. This film brilliantly encapsulates a unique moment in cinema, where the fusion of crime drama and epidemic suspense resonates deeply with contemporary audiences, making it a must-watch for fans of the noir genre.

I think people who don't believe in vaccines are idiots who have a screw loose in their brains.
Great movie. Have seen this before. Old movie. Doctor did house calls.
Feel the clammy hand of death 💀
Reminded me of the Covid epidemic SARS-CoV-2 in March 2020. Scary, many got vaccinated and it's now Nov. 2025 & even though people got vaccinated some are still getting it. So the virus is still around.
Be sure,Be safe, Get Vaccinated!
That nun is not your mother or sister! 😂😂😂

The old vaccines had adequate research and development done before being used on the public. Quality and professionalism are sorely lacking in the pharmaceutical industry today.
Covid19 vaccinations have not had enough quality controlled research and development to be safely used on humans. There are too many DEI unqualified employees working for big pharma which is resulting in the death of Covid19 vaccinated victims.
Balanced irony, perfect.
"Ma'am, I'm from the BOH. These guys are standing here with me.
Well, ma'am, they are from the Milking Police, is all "and uh well".
We happened to have noticed that your kids opened the carton at the wrong end, Mame".
and so, uh, well…. we just felt…?
Hollywood pushing vaccines even way back then.
right outta COVID handbook…
Trouble with life saving medicine and vaccinations, on an individual basis they're great, but when you look at the big picture its weakened the human species who in turn have overpopulated and destroyed the planet!
A good film; it was interesting to see that even in 1947 the anti-vaccination conspiracy theorists were spouting their nonsense!
Remember when Anthony Faucci BROUGHT THAT COVID 9 TO US BK TO THE US IN 2020. AND KILLED ALL THOSE ELDERLY IN NURSING HOME, OH IT WASN'T ANTHONY FAUCCI IT WAS HOMO CUOMO BUT ANTHONY KNEW ABT THE DEADLY DISEASE
Great Film….I give this gem 5 hearts out of 5 hearts……All around greatness…………………..Patrick.❤❤❤❤❤
Moral of the story: get vaxed. Don't Trump yourself!
