Beach Boys Reschedule Remaining Summer 2026 North American Tour Dates to Allow Singer Mike Love to ‘Recharge’

The Beach Boys have hit pause on their summer 2026 tour to allow singer Mike Love time to “recharge.” The announcement came in a post on Love’s Instagram page, in which the 85-year-old vocalist wrote that the break was intended to allow the veteran “God Only Knows” band to catch their breath before they go back out on the road in the fall.

“Playing for you is the highlight of our summer every year — especially as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States while saluting the 60th Anniversary of Pet Sounds,” Love, the sole remaining original member of the group said in a statement. “We’ve been having a blast out there, and to keep the good vibrations going strong, we’ll be taking a short break to recharge before getting back on the road in September.”

The announcement of the time-out on six weeks of shows, representing nearly 30 gigs, came just as the group was slated to perform at Virginia’s legendary Wolf Trap on Thursday night (July 23). Love noted that all tickets for the postponed performances — from July 23 through a planned Sept. 3 show in Pueblo, Colo. — will be honored following the band’s return to the road in September; fans are encouraged to contact their local box office for more information.

“Thanks for your love — we can’t wait to see you back out there for a September to Remember,” Love added.

Following the retirement of longtime vocalist/keyboardist Bruce Johnston, 83, earlier this year after more than six decades on the road, Love is the sole original-era member still touring with the band; fellow co-founder singer/rhythm guitarist Al Jardine stopped touring with the Love-led version of the Beach Boys in 2012.

A Slate review of the band’s May 30 show at State Theatre in New Brunswick, N.J. described Love as looking “sallow and enfeebled,” saying his legs were “stiff” and “arms flat by his side. When he opened his mouth to sing, his once resonant tenor was reduced to a whisper, all warbled, strange, and barely there.” The Beach Boys canceled a series of shows after that due to an unspecified illness Love was suffering from, resuming the tour on June 14.
