Summary:
In Blake Edwards’ poignant film That’s Life!, we delve into the complexities of life, love, and the often-unspoken fears that accompany aging. Set against the backdrop of a wealthy architect’s lavish 60th birthday celebration, the narrative centers on Harvey Fairchild (Jack Lemmon), who grapples with existential dread and a growing sense of failure as he faces this significant milestone.
As the festivities unfold, Harvey finds himself submerged in a sea of self-doubt, reflecting on unmet expectations and the passage of time. His introspective journey is marked by moments of humor and poignancy that are hallmarks of Lemmon’s masterful performance. The film captures the essence of a man caught between societal pressures and personal crises, as he veers into a state of depression, symbolizing the universal fears associated with aging.
Complicating matters is Gillian (Julie Andrews), Harvey’s loving yet overlooked wife. A celebrated singer facing a medical crisis of her own, Gillian harbors fears about a growth in her throat that could threaten both her career and health. The film poignantly contrasts Harvey’s outward struggle with his own mortality against Gillian’s silent battle, revealing the complexities of relationships where love is overshadowed by personal trials.
That’s Life! is more than just a reflection on the inevitable march of time; it’s an exploration of communication, unspoken fears, and the intricacies of marital dynamics—ultimately leading to moments of profound realization and connection. With sharp writing and the strong chemistry between Lemmon and Andrews, the film serves as a reminder that in the face of life’s uncertainties, love remains a powerful anchor.

It's a blessing the lovely Julie Andrews is still with us. She's 90 and doing well. ❤❤
Por favor, coloquem uma cópia com legendas em português, obrigada.
Guitar lick @24:55 was too good🤣
I can not believe that this boring movie was nominated for Oscar. Old, narcisstic, impossible man and his saintly wife going through their perfect life together and his complaining is very annoying. I was hoping that she will catch him cheating or he will finally die but no such thing. Yawn.
He thinks he has gout and then goes for a huge lobster and white wine. OK…
The twilight years? Mid life crisis…
I guess this is the point when you think you are getting old.
Year? Do we have to guess according to the hairdos?
Boring….almost make me sick…..not funny….
Tonight July 2 nd 2026
Fantastic MOVIE with the reliables JACK LEMON and JULIE ANDREWS❤❤❤!!!
Director Blake Edwards is the husband of Julie Andrews…
Well, unfortunately, I have to stop watching too much profanation
12:21 – when Jack Lemon says ".. it's probably bursitis..", that line is referencing a scene in "The Odd Couple" when Jack (as Felix) says "I've got bursitis in my arm" after throwing a cup and re-hurting his arm after Walter (Oscar) tells him he needs to stop controlling every emotion and get angry sometimes
I noticed both Jennifer Edwards and Emma Walton in the opening credits.
This guy is with one of the most beautiful women and all he do is complaining and complaining – is he CRAZY
Julie 💙

Yes I agree with why using Jesus name in vain. And also the Priest drinking to glory.
We all get older we all have health scares. That's life!!!!!!!
Thou well played Jack's character got a little old in the poor me I'm turning 60 maybe if he knew what his wife was going through possibility of not just loosing voice but possible life he wouldn't be so self absorbed
So he's turning 60. Big deal!! I turned 74 the end of last month would love to be 60!!!!
Why there such a quite sound?
Why not subtitles?
one of my favorite
That's Life is the name of the movie
Jack Lemmon was the right actor to drive everyone nuts with his neurosis in The Odd Couple and more so, in this one! Was he acting?
Wonderful crazy movie, loved it! Jack Lemmon is such a great actor. I liked the mix of Jack's frantic moods with Julie's soft spoken manner…and that crazy nut woman was fun. Many Great characters!
Jack Lemmon talked far too much, , no wife would stand that. Loved his other films. The director Blake Edwards wasJulie Andrews husbancd.
How could hd watch her in bed with lemo n so much.😊
I remember seeing this movie in the local movie theater 40 years ago
That slightly self-centered and unromantic man is not matching or worthy of his younger Lady wife, it seems. Maybe it is chronic stress, but if a surgeon, he could afford quality efficient therapy and doctors, to find the root cause and start healing. I wish for a co-star who matches wonderful Julie Andrews. Unless his role is like that…
I am not sure I like this movie! It was so ungodly, cursing, taking God's name in vain, also the use of mediums which is a no no! As far as the actors, excellent! Story line is good. Not a good life style!
Great movie.thank you.
Thats life😊
Why using Jesus name in vain
