In the gripping thriller Animals, Ben Affleck and Gillian Anderson deliver powerhouse performances in a narrative steeped in desperation and moral ambiguity. The film follows a mayoral candidate and his wife as they navigate an unimaginable crisis: their son has been taken captive, and the clock is ticking.
As the couple grapples with the overwhelming pressure of securing the ransom, they find themselves plunged into a dark abyss where secrets long buried resurface. The strain of their situation forces them to make harrowing decisions, revealing the lengths to which they will go to protect their family—and the shocking truths they’ve kept hidden from each other and the public.
Set against the backdrop of a high-stakes political landscape, Animals explores themes of sacrifice, corruption, and the distortion of moral compasses when familial ties are tested. Affleck’s portrayal captures the multifaceted nature of desperation, while Anderson anchors the narrative with her nuanced performance, providing a compelling counterbalance to the escalating tension.
With its tantalizing premise and a storyline that delves into the very nature of loyalty and ethics, Animals promises to be a gripping exploration of human instinct under duress—an emotion-laden thrill ride that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the very last frame.
Prepare for an unforgettable cinematic experience when Animals premieres on Netflix this October.
