30 years later in Liverpool, Sonia returned to perform the song as part of the interval act in the Grand Final. Keep the memories coming Eurovision Song Contest.
Sophisticated. Singer. Scouse. Liverpool.
I think Sonia likes to say she lost to Ireland by just one point, but she actually finished 23 points behind Niamh.
And if the Maltese jury had voted from its assigned position, there would never have been a cliffhanger. Ireland would have secured the win with two countries still to vote.
Fascinating to see how totally muted the audience was back then.
I love this song, although I preferred the song that won, this is still a classic Eurovision song!
Time Traveling Back To May 15, 1993 At The Green Glenns Arena In Millstreet, Ireland
The first 'Eurovision' that I watched, aged 11. I vividly remember Sonia singing for the UK, only to be beaten by an Irish girl wearing a red jacket. Who would have thought I'd closely follow this contest 33 years later.
Well the best song won (and probably only justified Irish winner of that decade), but Sonia was not a stranger. She had major hits in the UK in the late 80s, and was famous throughout Europe.
0:34 Eurovision 1993 camerawork be like: 💀😭

Did you finally get the license to play all the songs. If so, then it's amazing.
Please bring back the orchestra
Sonia should have won.
