Archaeologists Finally Opened The Secret Hatch On Top Of Egypt’s Sphinx
There is an iron hatch bolted into the skull of the Sphinx. You cannot see it from the ground. No tour guide points up at it. But it is there. A flat metal door sealing a hole cut directly into the head of the most famous statue on Earth. And when archaeologists finally ripped it open, a grown man climbed down into the Sphinx’s head and almost disappeared inside its skull. There is a photograph of him standing there, swallowed up to his chest by the stone. Beneath his feet, a square shaft had been hacked brutally downward through the skull until whoever cut it finally smashed into dead, solid rock.
