The film follows Miguel, a successful architect in London, portrayed by Javier Bardem. When he is approached with a lucrative offer to construct a high-tech survivalist bunker for a wealthy tech mogul, his life takes a dramatic turn.
As the project unfolds, Miguel’s wife, Sofia—played by Penélope Cruz—begins to experience a growing unease with their decisions. This lucrative opportunity rapidly spirals into a profound existential crisis as they confront not only their shifting identity amidst extreme wealth but also the moral implications of their choices. The couple’s relationship, already tested after 17 years of marriage, faces new strains as they grapple with their evolving realities.
Adding layers of tension, the presence of an unsettling neighbor, characterized by Stephen Graham, injects further anxiety into their lives. This neighbor’s actions serve as a constant reminder of the uncertainties lurking beyond their seemingly secure existence.
“Bunker” promises to be a gripping psychological thriller that explores deeper themes of trust, love, and the human condition in a society fraught with fear.
