Survivors of Lebanon’s Qana massacre remain defiant as wider war with Israel looms
As tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli army grow, there are fears that the war may spill over the border. In the southern village of Qana, survivors still vividly recall two deadly Israeli attacks that took place in 1996 and 2006.
In 1996, 106 civilians were killed while seeking refuge in a UN peacekeepers compound, a tragedy etched into the memory of those who call Qana home. Another Israeli airstrike in 2006 claimed the lives of 56 people, most of whom were innocent children.
Despite these horrific events, the survivors in Qana remain resilient and defiant in the face of ongoing conflict. They refuse to be silenced by the violence that has plagued their community for decades.
