The ongoing Canada Post strike has reached its third day as 55,000 employees continue to picket in protest. The strike, which began on Friday, has sparked widespread concern among the public as mail delivery services are disrupted across the country. Union president, [insert name], addressed the public’s concerns in a recent statement, assuring them that the workers are fighting for fair wages and improved working conditions. Despite the inconvenience caused by the strike, the union remains steadfast in their mission to achieve their demands.
With no end in sight to the strike, many Canadians are starting to feel the effects as mail delivery delays mount. Businesses that rely on Canada Post for shipping and receiving goods are facing significant challenges, leading to financial losses. The union president emphasized that the workers are aware of the impact their strike is having on the public, but believe it is necessary to bring attention to the issues they are facing in the workplace.
As negotiations between Canada Post management and the union continue, the public is urged to remain patient and understanding during this challenging time. The union president emphasized that the workers are committed to finding a resolution that is fair and beneficial to all parties involved. In the meantime, Canadians are advised to seek alternative methods of mail delivery and stay informed about any updates regarding the strike. The Canada Post strike serves as a reminder of the importance of fair labor practices and the need for workers to have a voice in the workplace.

🇨🇦 So the LIBERAL GOVERNMENT never fails to disappoint in their interfering by UNDERMINING of the COLLECTIVE BARGAINING PROCESS. These are Manufactured Crisis by the DOCK EMPLOYER and CPC ! WHY WHY WHY would the Employers negotiate with UNIONS when they know the Government will rescue them every time. These employees are the same employees that worked through the PANDEMIC for CANADIANS, they delivered ! This is their REWARD, FORCED BINDING ARBITRATION by the TRUDEAU GOVERNMENT. ❌The way workers are treated is simply a DISGRACE !❌ CEO's and Management take their hefty "BONUSES" while workers struggle to pay their BILLS. Canadians deserve BETTER ! Everything has become so UNAFFORDABLE !
Yes ppl need jobs. But CP is obsolete NO longer needed. My mailbox and community boxes are always so full of junk mail which CP should STOP delivering it..
Just declare bankruptcy canada post you are a burden.
It is just me or the Union woman is reading all her answers?……. it seems like Gobal News and her has organized/planned the "interview" …… SOOOO UNPROFESSIONAL!…. Still, I am happy o no receiving flyers!!!!!!!! I HATE FLYERS!!!!!!
And striking just before Christmas has nothing to do with it. How low can you go to ruin Christmas for many Canadians
So basically. your holding people hostage… yep, nope, force them back to work. They have always had better salaries and benefits than a lot of Canadians – so like yeah… nope
As a security concierge in a condo, I receive all tipe of parcels from all small or big companies, including Canada Post, and guest what!?!?!?!!!!!!!….. residents comes to me every single day to give me more than one mail put in the wrong mailbox…. the thing is really getting worse, those guys doesn't really cares about the service…. it is really ridiculous!!!!! THE SERVICE IS GETTING WORSE AND THEY WANT A RISE IN THEIR SALARY!!!! CANADA POST REALLY NEED TO RETHINK THE TYPE OF SERVICE THEY SHOULD OFFER!!!
Arrogant as per usual like most unions! You are constantly loosing money! Try working a private sector job and you will see how good you have it!! Absolutely disgusting!
It's time to reform Canada Post.
I haven’t trusted the mail service since the 1970’s
abolish canada post
Sounds like CBC… Bonuses for upper management and the removal of jobs and roles from everyone else.
Canada poste is just a great big bloated, inefficient operation, with all the minimalist, inactive, workers, just ,in a whole ,a complete, hind tit sucking operation, bleeding the tax payers, just a typical government operation, I am so sick of this legalized extortion
Yeah no…..just for these scummy execs to give themselves a raise……. and right before Christmas too huh couldnt care less
Fed Ex and Purolator is my new Canada Post. I’m done with this shabby organization. I like parcels and mail arriving at light speed right to my door.
Sorry if people are getting laid off.. their wages are much higher than minimum wage, it is expensive to post especially packages and it is a very slow service, 7 days a week would help. I am not in favour of their management forcing injections and profiting off of the back of workers
If only we cared.
They are advertising for workers for $28.00 a hour that is a great wage they do t need more or they will bankrupt the postal service and they lose all their jobs
Scrap Canada post, outdated garbage service.
So only bring on the union voice? Not exactly fair, I’d like to hear the other side of the issue
The Canada Post workers are all on strike in Canada when they received a 8.5% increase last year and they were already offered another 11.5% just recently which goes on top of that 8.5% and they turned it down. I want to know something, what exactly do these people need to get PAID so much money for when 90% of mail is digital?
Just about every year they go on strike. As a Canadian I am sick of them using my mail as a pawn to get what they want. If this strike is going to affect our economy, then Canada Post should suffer the consequences by getting rid of the whole crown corporation, no benefits or pensions for anyone.
canada post doesnt have the money….layoffs sound in order
I don't even have a problem with their demands like 7 day delivery, and I can somewhat agree with some parts but striking before Christmas and acting extremely entitled isn't a way to win support. If anything, I don't even think the workers want to be striking. Making no money before Christmas? Seriously? It's real easy for a union president to sit at home, take interviews and get paid. While workers have to put their lively-hood on pause during the most important times of the year.
Shut Canada post down, its top heavy, blotted, out of date and useless. They aren’t worth half of what they make.
No disrespect
Postal inside and outside workerd are very paid !
They do not need 17 paid days off !! They have 7 already if anything extend it to 10.
As for retire with dignity what is that suppose to mean!
If they havesquandered their personal financial why should be a taxpayer problem which they are taxpayers themselves!
As for Canada Post how does a Crown Corperation lose 3 billion dollars and not one CEO VP President Manager Supervisor has lost their job !!! Yet they all received their bonus checks , spent money buying vehicles that are not in use!
How doe a company mis manage its finances a crown corporation and nothing is done !
The uniin could have gone strike in September as could have a few others but now with 38 days before Christmas they feel that they have better chance of getting what they want.
They are going to hurt rural communities small business for their personal gains
Let sub contract to third-party line, just like ontario service run by private party, less cost and run more efficiency
Hundreds of millions in losses year after year and they want raises!! Are you serious CP. Lots of your new and lower seniority employees will be layed off or pretty much fired to accomodate these pay demands! Union leaders need to start using their brains they are making Unions look bad. You shouldn't get anything but a paycheck if your company is producing nothing but losses quarter after quarter, year after year.
"To buy a million-dollar home in Canada, you'll need a yearly income of at least $217,640"
It must be nearing Christmas !!
Don't these postal "Workers" realize that every time they go on strike more people are switching to paperless billing an the use of other more reliable couriers? They are just shooting themselves in their own foot.
Union president is living in 1970.
Defined benefit pensions, good wages and complete benefit package.
Losing 3 BILLION and not working for the benefit of the company is suicide.
Everyone is striking against their employers.
Fair Wages = Getting paid more than you're worth. Canada's Postal Service is behind every other Postal Services. In the U.S., for example, they work 6 days per week with parcels arriving much sooner.
They want more pay, not pay more as a retiree if retirement benefits become more expensive, and there are safety concerns? Can we get more details?
I like to work for cnaada post for temp to support emergency service delivery
Hilarious management keeps taking bonus 😜
No worries other ways to get parcels both sides think canada post is the only way to get parcels, think again can't hold me hostage and mail is declining with todays technology called on-line banking
They have been losing money for years and are a dying business. Last year they had a loss of $748 million and parcel delivery volumes are down 70% since 2022. Saying youll do 7 day delivery isnt needed; aside from the obvious premium pay theyd ask for to work weekends its a little ridiculous. They need to trim the fat and try partnering with Amazon or another online retailer for exclusive delivery rights. Run it like a business and not like a charity case for taxpayers.
Strike won’t end Executives won’t negotiate. Executives salaries and bonuses are guaranteed. They own Purolator and a couple other courier services. So they make more money during strike as other couriers get busier.
Not sure why this isn’t a conflict of interest and why bonuses are guaranteed.
Also they have cut pay by more than 15% from 5 years ago then offer 11% of 5 years and they won’t guarantee another pay cut.
