Amsterdam Mayor Angered by Attack on Israeli Fans

Amsterdam Mayor “Furious” After Israeli Fans Attacked in Antisemitic Wave

Dutch police are currently investigating reports that Amsterdam taxi drivers collaborated in a series of antisemitic attacks against Israeli football fans in the city last night. Reports indicate that ride apps were used to track down Israeli supporters after a match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax.

Following the match, at least ten Israeli fans were injured and five were hospitalized due to violent clashes. Israeli and Dutch leaders have condemned the attacks, with some likening the violence to a pogrom. According to police reports, pro-Palestinian rioters actively targeted Israeli supporters for physical assault.

In a conversation with President Herzog of Israel, King Willem-Alexander expressed his deep horror and shock at the events, acknowledging the failure to protect the Jewish community during World War Two and expressing regret for failing them once again. Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema expressed her shame over the attacks, describing hit-and-run incidents targeting Israeli fans by suspects who fled on motor scooters.

In response to the violence, Halsema has implemented emergency measures in the city, including a ban on all demonstrations this weekend. The ban also prohibits face-covering clothing and carrying objects, such as flags, that could disrupt public order.

The incidents in Amsterdam have sparked outrage and condemnation from leaders and citizens alike, prompting calls for accountability and justice for the victims of the attacks.
