Humanoid Robots Headed to War? Hands-On With Phantom MK1
Humanoid Robots Headed to War? Hands-On With Phantom MK1
In this exciting episode of What the Future, we dive into the world of humanoid robotics with a hands-on demonstration of the Phantom MK1 at Foundation Future Industries in San Francisco. As the line between robotics and defense blurs, Phantom MK1 stands out as a potential player in the battlefield, promising capabilities that could revolutionize modern warfare.
Our host teleoperates the robot for the first time, showcasing its advanced sensor technology, future design improvements, and the innovative hand mechanisms inspired by human evolution. With plans to eventually arm the robot for specific defense tasks, Foundation’s founder discusses the balance between autonomy and human oversight in military applications.
Controlled via a VR headset, the demonstration of teleoperation unveils how the robot can adapt and learn from human input, offering insights into future uses ranging from logistics to identifying threats. As the development of humanoid robots accelerates, important questions arise about their role in society and the potential risks they pose.
Join us as we explore these cutting-edge technologies and what they mean for our collective future, from warfare to everyday tasks. What do you think about the evolution of robots like Phantom MK1? Share your thoughts in the comments!

The robot needs bigger feet. Like humans.
reset my @$$ clear policy, control and management for a futuristic society. AI is already here and there’s no stopping..

Let me guess, powered by skynet?
I don't trust this CEO for defense purposes, he has different accent
❤❤❤😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉
Robots with guns and AI might actually be skynet. Still funny to watch them falling over when they're talking about them doing human tasks really well.
It’s gonna be exciting to get these robots to fight each other like the Tesla Optimus versus whatever this is versus the figure robot
And here I am to say the obvious: not having to physically go to work is a huge advantage. Substitutes 👍
This kind of Tech, in general, is pretty cool. There are definitely some use cases where it could be valuable, but I can't help but wonder: will future historians be referencing videos like this in a few hundred years after the Robot Wars? Maybe not, because all the humans might not be here anymore… Apprehensive–lol
Please do Real Steel with this tech👍🏻
Feels like yet another person trying to revolutionise industries that they have no actual experience in.
Heeey… boxing competition… Could bring lots of hype hmmm…
The companies that cant compete on anything else, always go for the mass murder industry.
It's chappie
We’re training them to fight wars for us, but what if they want to start a war against us… ? Rip 😂
Hmm, a robot with the number 1 in its name and designed for war… PEOPLE, DON'T GIVE IT COINS FOR THE Sake of Mankind's Future
Pfft. That robot can't even do The Robot, let alone evicerate a targeted meat bag.
We'll be killed by AI and our crumbling infrastructure long before an endoskeleton can break down your front door and crush your skull without remorse.
That input lag needs to be ironed out
In one Universe it started with Skynet.
In a second Universe it started with Legion.
And then….. there was Foundation.
Nothing funnier than a robot falling over😂
What you're seeing is advanced warfare
robot doing a winger wag. very very bad!
Oh boy robots with weapons what could go wrong ??😊
Imagine going to war for whatever cause or nation and getting murdered by a robot holding an assault rifle. 😢
Are they bullet proof ? One shot to those cameras the whole robot going down
This founder’s vision for using robots in the military is ridiculous. Protection from who, exactly? That’s the real question. The problem isn’t the robot itself; it’s how it will be used. We’ve already seen how technology meant for “protection” often ends up being used for control.
Weaponized robots are not science fiction anymore. Companies like Boston Dynamics and Ghost Robotics have already demonstrated robots capable of carrying weapons. And when people say, “Don’t worry, humans will stay in control,” I can’t help but laugh. As an engineer, I’ve heard that promise before; in the 1990s, when automation was sold as a way to “help” workers, but instead replaced thousands of jobs.
We’re told these machines are for safety and security, but that’s always how it starts. Fear is one of the oldest tools for manipulation. The real danger isn’t the robot; it’s the human intent behind it. Governments and corporations don’t have the best track record when it comes to using technology responsibly, and I see no reason to trust them now.
That's what we really don't need, militarizing the robots 😮😢😢.
I am going to marry a robot and be the Darth Vader making canned meat out of yall 🙂
all of you suck
Still need humans to operate robots 😂
the TERMINATOR is coming.. with SKYNET (aka starlink)
I don't see why you'd want a robot to do your dishes. We already have dishwashers for that. If all you're doing is having the robot put the dishes in the dishwasher, are you really getting the bang for the buck you'd want out of a robot?
I think the exciting thing would be having these robots on Mars. Humanoid robots could perform tasks on Mars that it would be expensive to send humans to do. if you send humans somewhere, you have to worry about providing them a breathable atmosphere in the craft, food, and a place to go to the bathroom. You don't have to do that for robots.
It’s hard to press the reset button if there’s a robot guarding it.
that's right the army can pay 500.000 for a combat robot.. ads up you being totally useless human.. 🙂
sad human flawed ,, robots are not toys ! they are here to help us not play stupid games ..
Garbage pick up in the army all they are good for😊
A decade behind others. Just a money raising effort…
It more worse than you think. U don't need to fear the clanker finishing us.
Because they will replace us. The economy concluded, we arent needed.
80 percent of the economy is run by the 10 percent of the richest people. Ferrari is double profitable than Honda n Ford .
We are irrelevant to the economy.
Teaching them how to fight is a very very very stupid idea.
Picture this thing with a Machine Gun… Humans are in trouble!
