With the stakes high, both chefs bring their A-game, showcasing their creativity and skill to outshine each other and ultimately challenge the culinary titan, Bobby Flay.
The Challenge Begins
As the timer starts, the chefs dive into the challenge, each crafting their unique interpretation of the elegant rack of lamb. Precision and artistry are key as they season, sear, and present their dishes, all while racing against the clock.
Ingredients Breakdown
For the Rack of Lamb:
- 2 racks of lamb (about 1.5 pounds each)
- Olive oil
- Fresh rosemary
- Fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper
- Garlic cloves, minced
For the Pasta Carbonara:
- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 4 ounces pancetta or guanciale, diced
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Freshly cracked pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Rack of Lamb:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Lamb: Season the racks of lamb with salt, pepper, minced garlic, and finely chopped rosemary and thyme. Drizzle olive oil over the meat.
- Sear the Lamb: In a hot skillet, sear the lamb on all sides until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Roast: Transfer the lamb to the oven and roast for 15-20 minutes, or until it reaches your desired doneness (145°F for medium rare).
- Rest: Remove from the oven and let the lamb rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Pasta Carbonara:
- Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Sauté the Pancetta: In a separate skillet, cook the diced pancetta over medium heat until crispy. Remove from heat.
- Prepare Egg Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks, grated Parmesan, and a generous amount of black pepper.
- Combine: Drain the pasta, reserving some pasta water. Toss the hot pasta with the pancetta and then quickly mix in the egg mixture, allowing the heat to cook the eggs into a creamy sauce. If necessary, add a bit of reserved pasta water to achieve desired creaminess.
- Serve: Plate the pasta and garnish with additional Parmesan and parsley.

How many Chopped contestants have been on BBF?

This show is so Boring..😴
Bruce carbonara´s was closer to the classic one than Bobby´s, thats for sure. Adding parsley when it does nothing in terms of flavors or textures was a bad move..
They never show the whole show. And quit telling the outcome people, they show the comments during the video. It's like someone telling you the whole movie while you're in line to get tickets.
Fun Fact: They were both on the same Chopped episode and Bruce would go on to be in Season 15 of Top Chef
