In a recent video titled “A Warning About American Airlines ⚠️ Lowering Standards,” the creator shares their disappointing experience flying with the world’s biggest airline. Despite American Airlines’ reputation for its extensive network and loyalty program, the video highlights the lackluster service and subpar experience on a long-haul international flight.
The video starts with the creator’s journey from the airplane graveyard in Teruel to Barcelona, where they were set to fly to the US with a great award redemption ticket from American Airlines AAdvantage. However, due to a flight cancellation by British Airways, their travel was disrupted and delayed for 24 hours. The lack of staff assistance during this exception situation made it challenging for the creator to rebook and receive necessary accommodations.
Upon finally reaching London Heathrow and boarding the American Airlines B777-300/ER, the creator found the premium experience to be disappointing. From plastic cups for welcome drinks to disposable headsets and poorly presented food, there was nothing that stood out positively about the flight. The shortage of staff – with only 11 flight attendants instead of the usual 14-15 on the B777-300/ER – resulted in a rushed service and decreased overall quality.
The video raises the question of whether American Airlines is the worst of the three major US airlines and prompts viewers to share their own experiences with the airline. Despite American Airlines’ status as the world’s biggest airline, this cautionary tale serves as a reminder to travelers to manage their expectations when flying with the carrier.
