Legendary musician Smokey Robinson is being celebrated by Billboard for Black History Month. With an impressive career that spans almost 6 decades, Robinson has had four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, plus two number one Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs and a Grammy to his name. Known for his prolific songwriting and contributions to the success of many artists as the vice president of Motown Records, Robinson has received numerous accolades, including the Grammy Legend award in 1990 and induction into the Kennedy Center Honors in 2006. Last year, he was named the MusiCares Person of the Year.
Despite his 83 years, Robinson is still going strong. He recently released his 24th album, “GMS,” his first album with all new material since 2009. He continues to tour the country and has even made time to stop by NPR’s Tiny Desk. His impact on the music industry is undeniable, and his influence is acknowledged as a true music legend.
