Valette Studio: Disobedience of Elegance for S/S 27 at Paris Men’s Fashion Week
In the heart of Paris, where the cobblestones whisper tales of artistic rebellion and sartorial elegance, a new chapter unfolded at the historic Hotel de Jaucourt. Day one of Paris Fashion Week Men’s saw the unveiling of Valette Studio’s 24-look Spring/Summer 2027 collection, aptly titled “Dandys Dada.” Here, designer Pierre-Francois Valette curates a dialogue between the structured world of tailoring and the unexpected chaos inspired by Dadaism.
At first glance, the collection conveys a robust sense of discipline through its strict tailoring—an homage to the geometric lines championed by the Constructivist movement. Valette breathes life into the art of Parisian craftsmanship, relying on impeccable materials such as structured wool twills, crisp cotton poplins, and innovative recycled leathers. Each piece is a testament to the artistry of tailoring, featuring fully canvassed jackets adorned with intricate details—leather-covered shoulder pads and horsehair chest pieces that offer both protection and presence.
Yet, as the name “Dandys Dada” suggests, it isn’t long before the spirit of Dadaism disrupts this meticulous order. For the first time, Valette introduces elements of flou and grand flou into the brand’s repertoire—fluid drapery that adds a new dimension to menswear. Utilizing bias-cut silk mousseline and viscose jersey, Valette incorporates transparency and sensuality into the collection, inviting movement that dances away from traditional masculinity.
The interplay of strict and fluid can be seen throughout the collection. Volumes shift gracefully, asymmetric draped collars appear almost sculptural, while skewed lapels topple the conventional silhouette, traversing diagonally across the chest. Repeating zippers lend a sense of modernity, serving as both function and ornamentation in this show of disobedience.
Color, too, plays a transformative role. While the collection begins with disciplined blacks, whites, and off-whites, it is punctuated with vibrant splashes of intense violet and earthen orange that challenge the monochrome narrative. Exclusive prints—zebras and spots—invoke a daring spirit, intertwining the familiar with the avant-garde, urging the viewer to reconsider boundaries in menswear.
As Valette Studio presents this collection, it encapsulates a profound exploration of masculinity, oscillating between control and chaos, structure and fluidity. “Dandys Dada” is not just a collection; it is a manifesto—an invitation to rethink the rules of elegance in an ever-evolving fashion landscape.
This showcase is a celebration of what it means to embrace multiplicity and disruption, reminding us that true elegance often lies in the art of disobedience. Prepare to be captivated by a collection that defies expectations and transcends conventions, challenging the very essence of how men dress in today’s world.
