The House Foreign Affairs Committee has taken the extraordinary step of subpoenaing Secretary of State Antony Blinken to testify about the chaotic and controversial withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
The decision to compel Blinken to appear before Congress comes as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have expressed deep concern and frustration over the handling of the withdrawal, which culminated in the Taliban swiftly regaining control of the country.
Many members of the committee have criticized the Biden administration for what they see as a lack of foresight and planning in the withdrawal process, which led to the swift collapse of the Afghan government and armed forces.
The subpoena is a significant escalation in the ongoing scrutiny of the administration’s actions in Afghanistan and will undoubtedly put Blinken on the hot seat as he faces tough questions from lawmakers about the decision-making process and the intelligence assessments that informed it.
This move signals a growing bipartisan consensus in Congress that there needs to be greater accountability and transparency in the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, which has left many Americans and allies stranded and vulnerable to the Taliban’s rule.
It remains to be seen how Blinken will respond to the committee’s subpoena and what information he will provide when he testifies. But one thing is clear: the fallout from the withdrawal is far from over, and Congress is determined to get to the bottom of what went wrong in one of the most consequential foreign policy decisions in recent memory.

Why do you keep wasting time ? BECAUSE THAT'S ALL YOU'RE GOOD AT
,
Should be asking Trump why he would negotiate a withdrawal with the taliban and not include the Afghan government. Ask why he left so little troops that created the unsafe conditions for withdrawal.
Need to subpoena Mike Pompeo and Trump for the withdrawal from Afghanistan. it Was them who negotiated with The Taliban without Afghanistan's Government . They released 5000 Taliban Terrorists .Trump was Supposed to Leave by May 2021 . It was them that Did That They released One from Pakistan after 20 years . Destabilization Is what Trump and Mike Pompeo did. He wanted the Taliban leaders to come to Camp David . 13 of our Soldiers are Dead because of them Research it !!!
I wonder if they mention Trump's deal with the Taliban only.
The shambolic Afghan withdawal occured barely NINE months after the very UNPEACEFUL handover of power in Jan. 2021. The military geniuses in charge of the situation were those INHERITED FROM FOUR YEARS OF SHAMBOLIC TRUMP ADMINISTRATION.
The botched Afghanistan withdrawal was the beginning of the end of world peace.
Everything that we, as a country, the world is currently experiencing, is all due to the desastres failures of our current administration.
A KH administration will be worse.
Brics pay is amazing
This is just because of the election coming up. When the election is over all these hearings will disappear.
Stinking Blinken
How is this supposed to lower the cost of living for me and my family?
January 20th, 2025 can't get here soon enough.
Trump caused Afghanistan withdrawal problems. He started this in 2020 to hurt the next president.
Vote blue 2024!
Jim Jordan still has not shown up for his congressional sapien. Double standards need to stop.
it began like this: a fat orange ordered the withdrawal right before the American people voted his smelly carcass out of office. it was akin to crapping the hotel bed and setting it on fire just before you check out, and then telling the front desk, “good luck with that!”
“Righteous Strike” Milley and the retaliatory drone strike in Kabul which killed 10 civilians, including 7 children.
