Boeing CEO apologises to crash victims’ families in hearing

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun has issued a heartfelt apology to the families of victims of plane crashes during a hearing with US senators. Calhoun acknowledged the mistakes made by the company in the past and assured lawmakers that they have learned from these tragic incidents.

During the hearing, Calhoun also mentioned the importance of employee whistleblowers in improving the company’s culture, stating that the process for reporting issues within Boeing is effective. However, he was accused by lawmakers of not going far enough to address a culture of retaliation within the company.

The spotlight has been on Boeing once again after a recent incident where a door panel fell off a new 737 Max plane during an Alaska Airlines flight in January, resulting in a gaping hole. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of Boeing’s planes and the company’s commitment to addressing issues promptly.
