Bracebridge, Ont. Mayor reports 24 inches of snowfall in last day and a half in Ontario winter storm

According to Bracebridge, Ont. Mayor Rick Maloney, a massive winter storm has left the region buried under approximately 24 inches of snow over the last day and a half. As a result, around 15,000 Hydro customers in Muskoka are currently without power. The town has declared a significant weather event, as they are struggling to keep the roads up to provincial regulations.

Despite the challenging conditions, Maloney noted that there haven’t been any reported issues with fire or ambulance response. He did, however, caution residents to avoid unnecessary travel and to stay in place until the storm passes. While main arteries are relatively clear, Maloney emphasized the importance of minimizing travel to the region in order to ensure safety for all.

The extreme weather situation in Bracebridge has left the community facing significant challenges, but officials are working diligently to manage the aftermath of the storm. For more information on the Ontario winter storm, visit the Global News website.
