Brazil has long been known as the largest producer of sugar in the world, but what sets them apart from other major sugar-producing countries like the US is their innovative approach to harvesting sugarcane without burning fields. In many regions, including Florida, farmers often resort to burning their fields to get rid of leaves and unwanted pests before harvesting sugarcane. However, this practice has raised concerns among residents who live near the fields, as the giant smoke clouds have been linked to health issues.
Brazil, on the other hand, has found a way to harvest sugarcane without the need for burning fields. This sustainable approach not only benefits the environment but also the health of nearby communities. By avoiding the use of fire in sugarcane harvesting, Brazil has been able to dominate the sugar production industry without the negative consequences of field burning.
The question now arises: Can the US adapt and follow in Brazil’s footsteps to achieve a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly approach to sugar production? As the largest producer of sugar in the US, Florida may need to reconsider its current practices and explore alternative methods that align with Brazil’s successful model. By learning from Brazil’s experience, the US could potentially revolutionize its sugar production industry and reduce the negative impact on the environment and public health.
In conclusion, Brazil’s ability to dominate sugar production without burning fields serves as a shining example of sustainability and innovation in the industry. With the right strategies and a commitment to environmentally-friendly practices, other major sugar-producing countries like the US could potentially follow suit and pave the way for a more sustainable future in the sugar industry.

Gotta love how the Americans are the loudest at accusing other countries for not being environmental, yet they are the worst.
DeSantis is the biggest polluter in USA – what a shame for Republicans!
im not surprised america is notorious for dragging behind the rest of the world when it comes to changing up things
¡Hola! ¡Me encantaría conocer tu opinión! 👍💬
Most sustainable sugar industry: BRASIL 🇧🇷
I hope the Philippines will follow suit
Wow, Late Stage Capitalism is real!
Growing Green harvested Sugarcane is not an option?
Ok, then grow something else. The market will balance out supply and demand for Green Harvested Sugarcane.
Taiwan used to farm sugarcane throughout most of the island, but I believe they were all green harvesting. Unfortunately the domestic sugarcane farming industry couldn't compete with imported sugars after tariff was reduced, so we stopped growing them. Now we "farm" semiconductors and industrial products on those lands, much more lucrative than sugar for sure!
Remember: Republicans want LESS regulation, it's a race to the bottom to achieve maximum profits for just a handful of rich people while everyone else suffers.
Whatever… corporates just wanted the money ang power. They can't smell the toxic fumes from their luxury villas. Poor people are just have to suffer lot.
Brazil a bit behind the times cutting green, queensland cane farmers been cutting green for the last 30 odd years, where do you think the original austoft cane harvester came from
Nothing green about this.
Brazilian ranchers do massive clearcutting for additional pasture.
Cane farmers should be required to raise cattle or other grassfed livestock. The sugarcane leaves and bagasse could then be fed to livestock and the manure could be used as fuel or topdressed on sugarcane fields.
Monocrop farming should be banned globally
how about we just remove all import taxes on sugar . consumers would benefit with lower sugar prices.
and yet US still blame Asian/S. American countries for global warming. LMAO.
Booger sugar
The fire makes me sad.
I don't what comparative analysis these governments did before deciding the start blending the crude. The cost they are saving is nothing compared to the pollution and lives they are destroying. Somewhere down the line there seems to be total lack of common sense or understanding among the so-called experts and the scientists sitting in the govt departments. One is ethanol, another is the Blend of crude palm and groundnut oil. Blend of crude Palm oil is also leads to massive Burining, as singaporean how much smoke they have to enhale when Malaysians burn their palm field. (because entire palm tree cultivation has to be replaced after 25-30yrs).
Burning also gives good quality sugar.
"A few decades ago Brazilians figured out how to harvest sugar cane without fires"
Intentionally medieval USA: We have no clue how to do that.
so the family lives in florida, but they dont even speak english? adapt or Deport.
Most Sugar farms in Australia do this…. we sent technicians and farmers to brazil 40 years ago to teach them. Also this can only be done in rain fed not irregated paddocks as the varieties of cane that go well with irregation grow too thick and still have to be burnt but that is a small percentage in Australia… like less thasn 15% but india who mostly irregates also burn. Also after the fields are spent after 3-5 returns (times you cut the cane and let it grow back by itself if you dont burn) you still have to burn the fields to get rid of the thick woody structures that form at the base after 3-5 years in the ground otherwise it can take years to rot and will often grow back in an unprofitable form. Also to be devils advocate the ash can save 10's of thousands in an average farm due to the cost of putting lime through the fields because cane likes akaline soil and ash will decrease the acidity of the soil in place of large amounts of lime. My family have been cane farmers for hundreds of years in Italy before we moved to Australia and did the same thing for another 100 years.
I farm sugar cane in Australia our district is one of the last in Australia to pre harvest burn. What is easy for some areas is almost impossible in others.
In India sugarcane is made without burning. Some farmers burn the stems after it is harvested but very less farmers do that.
I don't understand the big deal with the video
To be fair, you could spot the ass of a spider with today's satellites.
Something for us to learn. sugarcane anyway depletes a lot of our groundwater in Uttar Pradesh.
Pakistan still using human labour and there are huge fraud by government against the former and labours.
They just tiny amount 😭💔😭.
No rights for folks and formers 😢
That Karen at the end
same here in philippines, we burn the sugarcane field not just get rid of leaves but also to get rid of pest..
Amazing video, you work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K into trading from just few months ago and now they are multimillionaires

Interesting 😅😅😅😮😮 Lejab Dkobsi!!! 😊
It’s fucked that you need to know what fuckery big corporations are up to near a residential area before you decide to live there
if they burn like these i can only imagine what they do to the chorume of the production…
Is the narrator REALLY pronouncing the name "José" JOE-ZAY?? Typical disrespectful British.
Everybody loves their food and luxuries, but as soon as the processes to make that stuff inconvenience's them theyre outraged
Why don't we just stop making sugar. … it's killing us all slowly anyways…it's a not needed luxury which slowly kills….😊
0:25 = This could causes smog in North India, but the problem is 100 times bigger due to density of population.
