In a recent trial regarding the civil rights of Breonna Taylor’s neighbors, former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison has been found not guilty by a Kentucky jury. This decision marks a partial verdict in the case, as Hankison was facing accusations of violating the civil rights of Taylor’s neighbors during the police raid that led to her tragic death.
NBC News’ Adrienne Broaddus reported on this development, highlighting the outcome of the trial and the implications it may have for the ongoing discussions surrounding police accountability and racial justice. The verdict adds another layer of complexity to the legal proceedings related to the shooting of Breonna Taylor, a young Black woman whose death sparked nationwide protests and calls for justice.
The decision to acquit Hankison of these specific charges raises questions about the accountability of law enforcement officers and the protection of civilians’ rights. As the debate over police reform and racial equality continues to unfold, this verdict serves as a reminder of the challenges that lie ahead in addressing systemic issues within the criminal justice system.
The outcome of this trial underscores the importance of holding law enforcement accountable for their actions and upholding the rights of all individuals, regardless of their race or background. As the case of Breonna Taylor continues to be a focal point in the fight for justice, the verdict in Hankison’s trial will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the ongoing movement for police reform and social justice.

Brianna was never the sharpest tool in the shed.
Let him go home, then 'don't ' violate his rights
This is more of the anti-law enforcement agenda that has savaged cops just doing their job. He did not violate her civil rights. That's just another counterfeit narrative that has become far too common.
Hmm, a bunch of privileged folks decided that a privileged male cop was right to shoot willy-nilly. Sounds about wite😒
A long day for the jurors & no days for Breanna Taylor 😡
This is so wrong, on so many different levels. This raid was wrongly done. Justice was not served in this statement. Apparently, it was premature.
Perhaps people shouldn’t hang out with drug dealers etc. people get your facts straight

Why is he not locked up…
NOTE: The jury found the former LMPD detective GUILTY of both using excessive force AND violating Breonna's civil rights. But NOT guilty of violating the civil rights of those in the NEIGHBORING apartments. I am so glad I live in a single-family home with proper brick walls.
A retired Louisville police officer, who is now an LMPD chaplain, told me (shortly after the shooting) that one of the 3 criteria Louisville police require to shoot was "target acquisition". If there was a curtain or blinds on the inside of the sliding door, all Brett Hankison saw was the flash of a gun, right? He couldn't see the person holding the gun, or whether Breonna was between the gunman and the sliding door, or anything. I'm sorry he fired TEN BULLETS without being able to see clearly. Even if there were lights on in the apartment at 10:30 PM, which I think is when the raid happened, how could he be sure what he should shoot at, if the curtains were in the way?
Although when Breonna rented a car under her name, and the authorities (spoiler alert ahead) later found A DEAD HUMAN BODY in it, probably in connection with the boyfriend's "illegal pharmaceutical business", well, I would have chosen a better boyfriend.
OK guys this confused me a lot but seems that he had two charges and one sticked. Brett Hankison was found guilty of violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights during the 2020 raid, but not guilty on a separate count related to endangering her neighbors.
