When I was a little girl, I remembered this song playing on the radio, and my Mama telling me that this was her favorite song. It’s still my all-time favorite even though I am much older now and my Mama has been gone for many years. When I hear it, it brings back great memories of her. His voice is so soothing.

There's something about this song that resonates with me So much although I don't know why I must have heard it as a child when it was raining I don't know why but I just love it
Beautiful
It's a rainy night in America I feel it's raining all over the world. God bless the USA. Texas
I was in 9th grade when this sang was released. I used to pull the covers over my head and listen to my transistor radio low so mom couldn't hear. When this song came on, as young as I was, it dug deep in my soul and has stayed there for more than 50 years. It's still in the playlists I made for myself and when it shuffles up I'm instantly transported back to my young self. Timeless song.
Tony Joe White wrote this song in 1969. Brook did his cover of this great song as so many others did.
No shade at any other artist who tried to cover this song. But no 1 came close to Brook. Beautiful Beautiful song.
It is good to be reminded of when great singers simply………sang.
WE the INDIGENOUS PEOPLE will have a FAMILY REUNION..ALL of OUR ANCESTORS are coming back..
Only one Brook Benton No one and I Do mean No one can sing this song like Him❤
1970 until 2024💕
This song is so sad and the music fits it. I most definitely associate it with the fall of 1969, one of the worst times in my life. What a great performance by Brook Benton.

GOD BLESS YOU BROOK BENTON. THANKS FOR RAINY NIGHT IN GEORGER.
Smh…1971. Dear God thank you for Brook.
The late, great Mr. Brook Benton did not have to dance or move on stage. His unique baritone voice was enough to keep the listener mesmerized! My only regret is that I didn't see him perform LIVE!
Was 6 years old in December 1970, but my parents taught me about great music at a very young age, and I'm really glad they did🫶🙏✌️
Just passed the 75 mile marker heard this at Atlanta Airport coming home from Nam rain pouring down fogged in and lonely as he'll I'll never forget this song love it still today
blueheaven-bar so many quarters spent listen by so many…..
What a fantastic song!
My absolute favorite cover of his song is by Conway Twitty and Sam Moore. It is unbelievable and they give Brook Benton props in the song. Check it out if you haven’t heard it, I guarantee you’ll love it! I’ll put a link but you may have to just search if the link won’t work properly. https://youtu.be/cAA_LUCb0QE?si=JFSWwzdQPpAlJPS_

The wetness and the loneliness is so palatable in those lyrics.

Tony Joe White said Brook Benton taught him how to sing his own song.
