America is one of the largest food importers in the world, relying on countries such as Mexico, Europe, India, China, Canada, Africa, and South America for products like seafood, fruit, olive oil, sugar, and cheese. However, President Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs on many of these countries could potentially increase the cost of food for Americans at grocery stores. This raises concerns about the impact on trade relations and the availability of these essential food items.
Mexico plays a significant role in supplying food to America, with a focus on produce such as avocados and tomatoes. Europe also contributes a large portion of food imports, particularly in the form of cheese and olive oil. India is a key player in the import of spices and tea, while China provides a variety of products including seafood and vegetables.
Canada is another important source of food imports for America, offering items such as maple syrup and seafood. Africa and South America also contribute to the food supply chain, with Africa providing cocoa and coffee while South America offers products like beef and vegetables.
As America continues to rely on these countries for food imports, the threat of tariffs looms large. The potential increase in costs could have a significant impact on the availability and affordability of these essential food items for American consumers. It is essential for trade relations to be carefully managed to ensure a stable and reliable food supply chain for the nation.

Every person on earth can grow ur own garlic. Stop being lazy. You can even do it on a window seal
Infected coco by culprit pharmaceuticals companies for selling medicine.
This is not ALL true, tariffs will create US opportunities to grow the economy in the long run, this is not a short sighted decision by Trump :::
Hopefully these importers don't reduce there prices and just add the tariff cost to the end product, america is already in so much debt so just add more too it
KGB Trump is destroying USA step by step….😂😂😂
We are spoiled in the luxury of choice and the luxury of convienence, everything costs the same all year round and everything is availiable. Many of the food stuffs listed here are not staples, and while some are they also have domestic production that is very evidently suffering from outside competition. Yes your italian wines, truffles and cheese, and your Brazilian picanha and your shrimp (once a luxury), and your Quinoa will be more expensive, if there is a market I expect the 10% of americans who make up the vast majority of consumption of many of these products will pony up or pay less for something else simple as that. These are luxuries and just because we have become decadent and spoiled in our lifestyles does not mean that staples will become more expensive. At the end of the day, we make more food than we consume, while many of our palets will be sad to see some of our foreign favorites leave our income bracket that is life and is it more cruel to live in decadence and slip into decay or to seize your country's future for your own at the expense of some luxuries. But also this will impact the middle class who view their ability to afford some of these luxuries as status symbols and that symbolism will be a hard sell when they are no longer able to.
Probably not anymore with trump's stupidity 😂 People can't buy American beer, food, cars, what else 😂
When the blind lead the blind both will fall in the the ditch. Raising prices is unavoidable and you can't just blame Biden anymore! People are already struggling but their "team" won so they continue blindly to follow and cheer.
No, they don't. They now import $125bn of food. 😂
Why is this documentary existing after trump is voted into power ? We all ate Joe Biden shit for years , keep these documentaries more educational more than political
I just want to know how the Trump extremists are going to excuse him and then spin this one to blame all of the rising prices on Biden.
MAGA voters just have 0 understanding pf economics. The fact that they still talk about manufacturing and "bringing jobs back to america" is the ultimate proof. We already at full labor capacity. In our current economy there is a job for every single citizen. Why would you want more shitty jobs in low level manufacturing or crop farming when we already have vastly superior jobs in our market?
American Patriots🤡 are gonna lose their money now after paying huge tariffs😂😂
This is what happens when you let a guy who bankrupted 4 casinos run your economy.
Someone tell them to charge the USA more money 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only the Amish will survive
It's all fine and dandy until countries realize that they can't easily get dollars for trading with other nations anymore. They will have to look for another trade currency.
This is a lose lose situation! The tariffs are stupid. Trump just wants to show the world how powerful he is. He is doing this because he can.
Folks in the comments section, don't waste time trying to talk sense to Trump supporters. They are firmly in the "what supreme leader tells us must be true" category, and if he says the Earth is made of marshmallows, they'll start gulping down dirt by the spoonful. Any sense or logic cannot penetrate their heads, it's been 9 years of people trying their hardest.
I heard cartels own the avacado orchards. Which is correct?
the americans are so stupid for going along with this, almost unbelievable
By buying avacados we are supporting cartels. Im glad we are now supporting american farmers. -An American Farmer
Making American farmera money doesnt hurt americans. We should be self sufficient. Supporting these other countries helps us not at all
125 now
America can afford more money for food they have about 2 trillion floati g around there economy in cash.
Tariffs on Mexican avocados would be a good thing. Insatiable demand for the fruit has only led to mass deforestation (to make more room for avocado trees), violence, and water scarcity since avocados require huge amounts of water.
I don't understand how people can agree with the tariffs, I mean, don't they see that THEIR everyday products will increase in price… even if the US manages to produce all of its products.. the prices of everything will skyrocket
there could be a possible upside for the indian economy if tariffs are imposed particularly for the consumers , india imports next to nothing from the us, i would be hard pressed to find anything( so retaliatory tariffs will have no effect) , but we do export a fair bit, i hope no tariffs for the sake of exporters, but if there is what about the excess capacity either india will be able to find other other buyers but the state of economy even if they do it will not be sufficient that means they will have to bring it to the indian market at lower costs thus providing deflationary pressure to the economy.
and it is not as joyful as it seems, initially the customers might enjoy relief but it will has the potential to grip the economy across other sectors as companies start to close down as not able to compete in the local economy, look at china their real estate sector dominant witnessed just .5 % growth in major cities while they are saying something like 53 % near dwarka expressway , sure we are not interlinked to them as much but its not that a substantial sum of exports are not to usa.
in effect there is no alternative to reducing tariffs, i have explained the benefits of doing so and the negative effects of not doing so, and the long term negatives of loosing a big market like usa will be substantial, can it be done before 2nd april probably not but certain concessions can be given like for the auto sector to buy time for a more negotiated deal without any tariffs in the short term.
Its crazy that garlic is such a problem. You can grow a years worth by just putting a few dozen cloves in the ground and essentially ignoring it until you harvest them. You could even grow a years supply in a couple pots on your porch or windowsill.
I thought this was a video about where we get 100b dollars worth of food from…instead it's a video bashing Trump's ideas to put America First.
Funny how this documentary doesn't mention how much AMERICAN goods are taxed when we send our goods to other countries. Absolutely pathetic…do better
Trump voters got dropped. He was in it to lower billionaire tax bracket. Tariff tax to pay for cuts.
About time the World strikes back against the orange turd.
what wrong in making AMerican to feed themself, even if the price is higher?
Feeding yourself would make you a strong independent country, stupido!!
Do a video on trade imbalances, you won’t
They can eliminate tarrifs by not changing tarrifs to us. Its reciprocal. Business insider was very one sided with this.
Everyone is making fun of Americans being fat, now they will be one of the skinniest people on earth, at least for now.
USA will either need to become self-sufficient but with expensive products, or stay dependent on other countries for cheap products and be vulnerable. During lockdowns, USA didn’t even have toilet papers or masks due to how dependent on imports they became.
