One of my favourite authors especially the Mallen Family books I read as a teenager ❤
why the f..g music all the time – ridiculous as is the narration – can't you speak longer than a sentence at a time?
legend
Very charming, empathetic, and informative bio of this extraordinary, original woman and author. Merci beaucoup, Ms Hosler.
Hey Best Documentary, your text description reads, "Dozens of his novels". Should read, "Dozens of [her] novels " yes?
Deveriam fazer filmes dos livros de Katherina
My favorite author too have read allergy books and some very many times xxx
I have read every book that she wrote at least twice she was wonderful and I loved all the stories and characters ❤
i love her work
What a biased, anti-Catholic documentary. I didn't know that when a child follows NO religion and you introduce her to one you are 'forcing' this religion upon the child? She also strongly suggests that her step-grandfather being Catholic caused trouble in her grandparents' home. I wonder how much of this rubbish is to be taken seriously.
I loved this documentary . Ms Hosler has the perfect voice for this sort of thing . Maybe even for bed time stories . Truly enjoyed this thanks so much'
R.I.P.🙏✝ CATHERINE COOKSON. A FEMALE " CHARLES DICKENS " !! OF THE NORTH EAST . I HAVE WATCHED DRAMA ON TELEVISION. BRITISH ACTING AT ITS VERY BEST INDEED! YES, GOOD STORIES SAD & HAPPY. ALL HUMAN LIFE IS THERE . FROM, U.K. (2024).

I only know her from her wonderful movies, im from then usa and now i will read her books.
As a child, my mother read these books and later in life, I couldn’t get enough of them. They stand here in my library shelves. I have to look to see if I can find more. Thank you.
Celtic "race"??
Mrs Hosler a million thanks.. Greetings from Cyprus
what on earth has the San Francisco earthquake got to do with the NE of England
ridiculous script and why the music in the background? Irritating
I have enjoyed every one of Catherine's novels❤
Edit: being called "bastard" lived on well into the 1960's here in the US. My oldest brother spent the majority of his adult life trying to out-run the slur.
Music is irrararing
Music is irritating
I love her stories, especially “The Wingless Bird”.
The 1st photo of Kathrine doesn’t look like her at all?…
Sunday afternoon tv. Wonderful.
I am now 90 years old and I was 16 when I read my first Catherine Cookson novel since then I have read many more over the years. This documentary was very interesting and sad at the same time to think that she lost four babies but nevertheless her strong willand a loving husband helped her to overcome that sadness and inspired her to write. Giving many of us the opportunity to enjoy her stories. 57:52
I met Catherine Cookson through my work back in the 1980's.
My Grandma always asked me to get her Catherine Cookson books from the local library I lived with my Grandma Gash nee ford when my Mum and Dad Devoice and my four other sisters lived with our Grandmother it was in the Seventies She was very Victorian and we had to live in a very old fashion way she was scared of electric and had very old fashioned furniture and kitchen and bathroom and washing with a hand mangle I am sure she saw us like a Catherine Cookson Stories and managed us very well I still think of her all the years later she was strick but fare
Thank you for the wonderful documentary, it brought me to tears at times, so many of facets of her life are what I have experienced.💐
She is also known as Catherine Merchant
Excellent story of her life – and elegantly told of her biography
Absolutely loved this, well narrated and informative. I’ve never personally read any of her books but I will be now Thank you 🙏
Excellent in some ways, but no photos at all of the young Catherine? Not even a wedding photo?
Loved her books
I enjoyed learning more about this prolific author. But I have a question: was there only one picture of Catherine Cookson taken in her whole life? And no pictures of her husband? Or her mother or grandparents? I always find pictures important if not worth a thousand words.
In the description it says “his novels!”
