Utah’s Great Salt Lake, often referred to as “America’s Dead Sea,” is facing a dire situation as two-thirds of its surface has been lost in just forty years. Scientists attribute this alarming decline to a combination of climate change and the excessive use of water by agricultural and industrial activities. Despite the clear impact of these factors on the lake’s diminishing size, convincing many locals in the conservative state of Utah to acknowledge the role of climate change has proven to be a significant challenge for environmental campaigners.
The looming environmental disaster at the Great Salt Lake is compounded by concerns over the potential effects of another Donald Trump presidency on the future of the lake. Trump, who has a history of climate change denial and deregulation of environmental protections, could further jeopardize efforts to address the crisis facing the Great Salt Lake.
With the future of the Great Salt Lake hanging in the balance, it is crucial for both policymakers and the public to acknowledge the role of climate change in the lake’s diminishing size and take immediate action to mitigate further damage. Failure to do so could have devastating consequences not only for the lake itself, but also for the local ecosystems and communities that rely on it for sustenance.

The Inflation Reduction Act authorize $891 billion in total spending – including $783 billion on energy and climate change, and three years of Affordable Care Act subsidies.
However, it was a climate scam. It caused the worst inflation in 40 years versus its namesake. How much did that $900 billion reduce the temperature? Zero.
If you had $100 in 2020, it was reduced by 21.6% in 2024. Thanks Biden-Harris for making America poorer.
Every substance known to man has come from the earth, the earth burns substances on it`s own in the form of volcanoes, we only have the white coats word for the fact that man is to blame but the governments have still found ways to profit from the problem.
EU also plans to hike tariff on affordable and high quality Chinese EVs that can stop greenhouse emission and reverse global warming. The US tariff is for alleged "national security". The EU claims such tariff for bargaining with China and allegedly protect EU industry. So this is a "pot calling kettle" case.
electoral college is the problem
Advocates could simply make land use the centerpiece of their argument to save the great Salt Lake. Urbanization and agricultural practice, the wasteful polluting industrial agricultural practice is destroying the lake. Residents of Utah have a choice to make. They can either continue to destroy the landscape in dry out the lake or they can stop the practice..
Agriculture and urbanization is climate change. Oil is an accelerant to the intrinsic process of our kind of economy, which kills the living planet to sustain itself. It knows nothing else and has made the process into a religion.
“Connecting climate change with shrinking lake is hard”….we have the same problem in Florida and now you can see these deniers demanding socialism aka fema for money. Denial is death going forward and that’s the best thing happening as climate change cleans up excess human numbers. Only sad part is, those least responsible may bear the highest brunt of it.
It’s all about a rogue religion so it gets worse. Evangelicals deny all science, not just climate change. They even reject the teachings of their savior to reelect a blasphemous president.
Climate change denial ????
You mean those of us telling the truth ??
The SUN controls our climate, NOT humans…..
climate's change.
grow up.
