The German economy is set to take center stage in coalition talks following the recent election, where voters identified it as a top concern. Ever since the conflict in Ukraine began in 2022, Germany has been grappling with high costs and increasing uncertainty, leading to a shrinking economy and rising job losses.
Business groups are advocating for measures to reduce bureaucracy and enhance competitiveness in energy and labor costs. The CDU/CSU’s victory in the election has paved the way for discussions that will focus on breathing new life into the economy and addressing the challenges it currently faces.
Steven Beardsley, a DW reporter, highlights the importance of these talks as they are set to shape the future direction of Europe’s largest economy. With the country facing economic difficulties, it is crucial for leaders to come together and devise strategies that will spur growth and create opportunities for businesses and workers alike.
As the coalition negotiations unfold, all eyes will be on the decisions made regarding the German economy. The outcome of these talks will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the country’s economic trajectory in the coming years.

Yes! 🎉
And if it wasn't for Germany ant democratic methods against far right parties afd could have done better
The People have Spoken! 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
Hallelujah!
Sholz should never have had that leadership job.
No talk of immigration?
That's an error in judgment.
Be patient!
Even though the AfD didn't win the chancellory, didn't they win many new voters/supporters in this election?
Perhaps the "RIGHT" change will be comming soon!😊😊😊
Meet the new boss, the same as the old boss.
illegal immigration in Germany is unsustainable. Please fix it, Herr Merz, lest more people will support the fascist AfD, just because of this issue
The only way to change what previous government did is for germany take lead rule and visit Russia before US and reactivate the trade agreements otherwise it'll get worse even if you deport all immigrants legal or not
note: immigration issues is only a distraction its never been an issue economic wise in my opinion
The Elitist will worry more about Ukraine then the German peaple
So elections happen but democracy is dead. The 2nd most popular party being told they'll be shut out by the sounds of things.
Cheaper energy cost while pushing Ukraine war…dumb
If coalition requires a left wing party, I don't see how it will be different from the last one…
(Genuinely curious, would like to hear from some Germans about this)
Change? Nothing will change without Afd. CDU and SPD will form a government and they are 2 cheeks of the same a*se.
"Back to 1935!"
Germany has too many zrussians
Germany is a lost cause.
A german George Bush ouch that sucks.
There s only 2 group in politics ..either RIGHT WING or LEFT WING…
So anything that forms alliance with left is left ..
If I was Germany I would stop closing powerplants. Nordic nations can provide it with gas and oil, but the electricity grid needs to catch up and closing stuff aint helping.
They elected exactly the same people
To simply ignore the second highest number of voters is oppression and undemocratic. You may not like how they think but trying to ignore them is going to bite you
To Germany, you rejected SPD (LOST 86 seats) yet CDU bring back SPD! Hahaha CDU will becomes SPD if CDU still refuse to change.
GOING FOR COALITION IS NOT VICTORY
musical chairs – a coalition, no change then
Yeah no, thats our CDU. First of all they got to save they're money… Then comes a looooong time absolutely Fuc*ing nothing! We're screwed.
Germany needs to grow up, leave all the Woke BS behind, start talks with smarter people from Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Italy to name a few, there are other non EU countries to consider, start a better trading partnership.
Germany voted for change? LOL. Managed decline is the only thing that can be done within the EU structure. Perhaps East Germany should split from West Germany to avoid falling under communist rule again.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch an Deutschland zur Wahl von Merz. Grüße aus der Ukraine 🇺🇦
Just another doctor with the same medication.Get us no where. 😂
AFD destroyed hope Far right is over
