5 years of hard laundry!

This is old movie style, not real world, sorry.
A film with some heart and people who were willing to show loyalty in the face of challenging circumstances. This is something that is in short supply but it does not have to remain that way.
Great movie.
He didn’t kill him the table killed him
If you mostly know Broderick Crawford from his Oscar-winning turn as a corrupt politician in All the King's Men and as Judy Holliday's crooked, abusive boyfriend in Born Yesterday, then get a load of this: around the same time he also played an honest, principled DA/ prison warden who's also a heck of a nice guy! And he did it in a surprisingly good B-plus movie with genuine suspense, strong characterizations, sharp dialogue and some truly engrossing ethical dilemmas. It even has something of a running theme: at least five different characters are defined (sometimes fair, sometimes not) by actions they've committed or reputations they've built in their past. Even better, it teases a relationship between the anti-hero (Glenn Ford) and the warden's daughter without pushing it (at least until the very satisfying, understated last few seconds). Henry Levin is one of those directors who's exactly as good or as bad as his scripts: he did the terrific psychological western The Man From Colorado and the thoughtful beach flick Where the Boys Are, but also the two horrible Dean Martin Matt Helm spy movies that DIDN'T feature Stella Stevens or Sharon Tate. This time, he drew a real winner. 8/10.
Funny how people love to see violence. I guess it's an American thing.
Great film. One of my favourite old school actors. Thank you for posting.
Excellent film.
Great actors but this one feels like a whole movie after 29 minutes

This is a remake of a 1930s prison movie Word for Word almost Word for Word, including the last scene at the shootout in the solitary sales
Glenn Ford is always excellent, and thank you for posting this. That said however, as a plot observation, his character was extremely unsympathetic. One stupid decision after another.
“You guys start this again I’m gonna call the cops”

I so wish classic movie's would have had nudity. This is a great classic.
R.I.P. Glenn Ford
Who would be the person you would call when in trouble?
