Creating Empathetic Experiences | Boris Andre Gomes | TEDxATLAS University – Video

In “Designing Experiences with Empathy,” Boris Andre Gomes captivates the audience with his journey from a carefree child dancer to a thoughtful experience designer. Through vivid anecdotes, he reflects on how childhood interactions—like organizing impromptu dance shows for neighborhood kids—shaped his understanding of creating meaningful experiences. He emphasizes the importance of empathy in design, explaining how he consciously curates moments for his family, team, and even patients at Dr. Reddy’s, where he leads an experience design team.

Gomes argues that effective design begins with understanding emotions—what one wants the user to feel—and ensures that the intricate details resonate with those emotions. He illustrates this point through personal stories, highlighting the joy that comes from making others feel special and connected. By fostering emotional connections and carefully orchestrating experiences, whether in a corporate environment or family setting, Gomes demonstrates that empathy is crucial in all design processes. His insights challenge us to rethink our approach to user experiences in everyday life and professional realms alike, leading to profound connections and impactful outcomes.
