Crypto fraud: The OneCoin scandal | DW Documentary
OneCoin was launched in 2014 and billed as the world’s largest cryptocurrency. Founder Ruja Ignatova earned many millions of Euros before a tech nerd stepped in to stop the scam – putting himself in danger.
Bjørn Bjercke is a blockchain expert. Blockchain is a decentralized database that records transactions in a network and stores them, unalterably. All cryptocurrencies in the world are operated on blockchains. OneCoin also claimed to have one. But Bjørn Bjercke knew better.
The creators of OneCoin tried to recruit him. They offered him a tempting salary, a large car and various apartments. In return, he would set up a blockchain for the cryptocurrency.
But all this was months after OneCoin launched. It was clear to Bjercke from the start that this had to be a scam. He went public. By this time, however, the international OneCoin community had already grown considerably, thanks to a snowball system. OneCoin devotees felt threatened by Bjercke’s revelations and tried to silence him.
In the meantime, the creators of OneCoin have been put out of business. Founder Ruja Ignatova has disappeared and is wanted by the German authorities, among others. Bjørn Bjercke is working with authorities around the world to uncover new scams. But for those who lost money, all this comes too late.

🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
A lesson to learn in life. Never believe a magician.
How is this any different to trump's non-existent currency?
Everyone who got ripped off deserves everything they paid for.
There's no cure for human greed. It will end the planet. Greedy humans are consuming everything.

Psychology professor here, if you’re ever part of a community that refers to EVERYONE who disagrees with them as wrong, stupid, or haters, and/or tells you that only they know the truth, your community is actually a cult.
This applies 100% of the time. Normal, healthy communities have no problem with people who are skeptical or have questions.
My humble opinion is that the greed and stupidity of the buyer is equal to sheer evil of the scammers..
But she didn’t lie though. After she swindled all her followers, they’re left with only one coin..
Is she in the UAE?
Why is she called "Doctor"….doctor in scamming people?
LUNA was another one.
The only part of this everything who failed is the government body who did not recognise suspicious activities like this much earlier and ban it. However, there is more money laundry in many countries and that become so normal, that government can just deny it easily
That is one smart Imam, a real community leader, God bless!
So this is how a mexican drug cartel meeting would look like if it was an annual stockholder's meeting. When will James Bond show up to expose the mafia bosses?
The irony of the guy wearing a bitcoin shirt lecturing about onecoin being a scam 😂
But charging actual euros for everything you do in this system instead of their own currency is absolutely diabolical 😂
Can anyone explain to me why people feel bitcoin is somehow different?
The South African banker knew exactly what he was doing 😂
😂
👍
Ruja was killed by the Russian Mafia is the best explanation for her disappearance. She had started laundering their money
MagnatesMedia also done a good video on this.
When Human put so much money into things they will became hard to convince into learning the truth, because the truth is painful to them and they cannot accept the fact that they got scammed. also, people who got scammed once are easier to get scammed in the future too because they want to make up for their loss in the past by diving into new to good to be true scam again.
Because there are plenty of suckers out there.
Lose or win
I appreciate that there are some people who are doing something to expose those scammer,, but what I don't understand is that what the authorities do to others who are involved in the scam? I see no one is in prison for this gruesome fraud.
Crazy, crazy, CRAZY. Wizard Oz, Mormon mocking MOVIE STYLE CRAZY.
When you buy what used to be called "American Pink Sheets", you KNOW that it could go ANY different way. Sometimes, if you're essentially just playing around during the day, you follow speculative news online, spend, depending on who your bank IS, 4 to 8 USD plus maybe 100 USD, and wait. This is different. This is BIZZARE. I feel bad for these people. At least "Pink Sheets (OTCs)", 100 USD plus 4 to 6 USD isn't going to RUIN you. Might be even be kind of fun. PLENTY of people get 25-35 percent DAILY. It's kind of easy once you have the freedom to buy more reputable stock. ONCE YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM, it's easily done.
People still can't explain to me how it makes money. How does solving an algorithm make Money?
Sad.
