Behind the closed doors of the Heavy Metal change program, a handful of ordinary men confront the hardest truth of all: that they have become monsters to their own families. This raw, unflinching documentary steps inside an intensive group therapy room where violent fathers and abusive partners attempt to dismantle the vicious cycle of anger, power, and control. Guided by uncompromising counselors, these participants from all walks of life learn to identify the physical triggers of their impending explosions, from clenched fists to destructive blackouts. Confronted with emergency call recordings and the heartbreaking testimonies of their partners seeking refuge in the women’s support program, they are forced to discard the traditional “man’s rulebook” and take full accountability for their actions.
Between the distress of separated fathers whose children are already mirroring their abusive patterns and the shock of a sudden relapse mid-therapy, the film carefully avoids the trap of easy redemption. This deep psychological immersion redefines the very meaning of strength, proving that true masculinity lies not in domination or physical force, but in the courage to lay down one’s weapons and create a safe environment for future generations.

man this doc hits hard people think we dont care about family here but thats not true seeing homes fall apart and dads becoming monsters is heavy honestly though were fighting the wrong battles the whole system is rigged to keep us stressed out running on a treadmill of debt and bills and following a lifestyle they designed just to keep us busy and tired when youre under that much pressure 24/7 people end up snapping and taking it out on their own families they want us broken and isolated so were easier to control protecting our people from this daily grind is the real fight
0:51 Mine was a decon during tha day and a child molesting demon 😈 in tha nights from 7 to 12..I'll never forget
daddy
Good luck, guys. You’re good people who were abused yourself. The fact you care and are putting in the work shows the real you.
Yes, these men are victims of abuse themselves. But also yes, they're the only ones who can make themselves change and own what they're doing to their loved ones.
When my wife's stepdad strangles me, then says I strangled HIS wife so I go to prison for years and years… When I didn't do 💩? All bets are off homeboy… Hope you sleep with one eye open…
It's good that they want to change. Many abusers don't.
I am a woman and i worked at a job where i had to commute 3 hours daily, had a demanding and stressful job, after covid, i was doing the job of 4 people, then get home and do all the housework. I was tired and overwhelmed, i took it out on my family, small things triggered me into fits of anger, garbage not thrown away, dishes lying around, shoes strewn about would turn me into a monster, i had no time to rest, sleep or breathe…my husband was drifting away, my kids were scared of me. I knew it was not the person i was but i couldnt control my self.
Finally one day i realized..we needed my paycheck but i needed my family and myself back…i quit my job, took some time off, took a part time job…the immense pressure i was carrying for a long long time was not sustainable. Burn out is real. Monsters are real. Anger issues are real but they are the symptoms not the disease. So glad i made that decesion.
Being in a relationship is a gift not a given. Women choose who they have children with. If a woman has chosen you, treat it as the gift that it is. If you want a beautiful relationship you need to heal your own trauma. It’s never an excuse to take your pain out on another. If drinking or drugs is an issue, stop. I’m very proud of the men who have taken the steps to work out their own issues. If everyone could just work on themselves, everything and everyone around them heals. If a person, man or woman can’t heal themselves so they can be the best partner or parent, then perhaps a relationship is not for them. Not everyone deserves a relationship. If you can’t step up, step away and go solo. Again, I take my hat off to anyone who addresses their own trauma. I hope these men can truly heal so they can be the best father and partner they can be. Do it not only for yourself, but for those who love you.
A brilliant documentary. I acknowledge their openness, honesty and accountability, however, I don’t think they truly understand the damage and severe trauma they have caused to their wives, partners and children, the ramifications of their behaviour will be life long!!! The fact Justin referred to his partner as “A F$KING B&TCH” and all the men in the group laughed and thought that was ok says a lot about where they are currently at!!! I truly hope their wives and partners took this opportunity to leave!!!
The exact reason women should stay single and not have children. If they choose to have children, they should use donors and not be in a relationship with a man. Women and children will never be safe with men around.
vaginal feminist garbage programming
Excellent production
They guy that hit his kid was a bad egg. The way he clapped and laughed when the other bloke said “shut up bitch” was very telling. DV is 100% caused by misogyny. These men all think they have an inherent right to lord it over women . In saying that I also see what a positive turning point men have when in these group settings where they are not only being educated but also having the opportunity to delve into their own emotions and feel safe to talk about their vulnerabilities . This is what women do all the time because we are not socialised into being emotional cripples and don’t become abusive arseholes
Nothing can justify abuse and those who have been abused won't forget even if they want to.
These dudes don’t care or they would’ve worked on this before they got married and had kids. This documentary is disgusting.
This is the massive ongoing outcome of everyone thinking they MUST get married and procreate.
Do you really believe this world and it's occupants are worth creating multiple tax slaves per family.
Grow up. Get a clue. It's not.
These men are brave enough to face up to their demons and bad behaviour. I respect them for this. Hopefully, the therapy can break the cycle of abuse and violence. All these men had abusive fathers and poor role models. They were innocent boys once.
these men never stop…drunk , clean , whatever …should be put down
these wankas dont want to change , evil…disgusting documentary with their euphoric recall
🤮🤮🤮🤬🤬🤬🤬
It’s dam hard for me to even think for one moment I can trust men. I forgave many male abuse from day one of my life. My trust has been broken.
