Seven young people recount their passion for poetry written in Yiddish during the interwar period, a time of tremendous creative momentum in Yiddish culture. The poetry of these years was universal and intimate at the same time, in relation to all the literary and artistic movements of the time. These poets were polyglots and moved from one country to another. “Yiddishland” was not a country but a language.
The protagonists of my film, some Jewish, others not, also move between countries and languages. Everyone will talk about their personal relationship to Yiddish and to a poet they particularly like. For these young people, this Yiddish poetry does not only belong to a Jewish past, but it allows us to situate ourselves in the present.
The film will be shot in different cities and in a plurality of languages.

I fell on the floor with your Yiddish I have been speaking Yiddish since I was 5 and I have never heard Yiddish with such an accent😂😂
The history repeated itself 70 years ago and it is today in the ultra-Orthodox concentrations. Just look for other histories, I believe there is no shortage of success.
Great documentary, much appreciated!
