Dell Overhauls Its XPS Laptops and Redesigns the Alienware m16 for CES 2024
Dell has recently announced the overhaul of its XPS laptops, including the redesign of the Alienware m16, at CES 2024. The XPS line has been redesigned around the launch of Intel’s new core Ultra processors. The new designs are based on Dell’s XPS 13, with the updated 13-inch XPS 13 essentially being last year’s model but with a new CPU and without the “Plus” in the name. Dell has also used what it learned from this model to create all-new 14 and 16-inch versions, moving on from the previously available 15 and 17-inch sizes.
The new XPS laptops feature streamlined, one-on-one machined aluminum bodies, ultra-thin bezels, a touch function key row, and a seamless glass touchpad with haptic feedback. The keys are larger and there is even a Microsoft co-pilot key at the lower right to take advantage of AI-enabled features. There are multiple display options, including OLED touch panels and variable refresh rates.
The XPS laptops will be running on Intel’s latest core Ultra processors and both the 14 and 16-inch sizes will have discrete Nvidia Graphics options. Dell has also announced a redesign of the Alienware m16, making it 15% smaller with a more typical clamshell design. The M16 R2 will be available in January starting at $1650, while the M18 will start at $1,900. Alienware also updated the options on its x16 model and giant M8 model.
Overall, Dell’s XPS laptops and the redesigned Alienware m16 offer sleek new features and improved performance, making them a strong contender in the laptop market.
